Agree to disagree. I admire doing something that hasn't been done for 50 years, Chelsea league and inter CL. Pep only made them more efficient, big feat but I don't think that it compares.

This is a never ending debate. I believe Pep is really brilliant. He has the talent at his disposal, but to make them play that way is some feat. Not to say, keeping players motivated when they have won everything isn't the simplest thing either.

I disagree. The changes Pep made to Barca were a complete overhaul in the system, and something that has never been implemented so well in football before. You talk about something that hasn't been done for 50 years? What about something that has never previously been done?



If you think Pep has only 'made them more efficient', then your understanding of tactics doesn't extend beyond 11 circles on a chalkboard. Simple as that.

Of course not, hence why I prefer Jose much more than just a coach. Pep also has a history with clashing with egos.

It clearly wasnt. Barca have been around for a fucking long time, they've never (iirc) won two CL trophies in 2 years before, or delivered like 15 trophies in 3 seasons...

infact, i dont think any big club in HISTORY has.

Even Mourinho did 2 CLs in 8 years.. Guardiola did 2 in 3... his predecessor didn't manage to do that, nor anyone in Barca history prior.

What Pep did to Barça was great indeed, but you're overstating what he actually did, Pep didn't overhaul the system, that system has been in place at Barça for 20 years and the biggest responsible was Cruyff not Guardiola. What Guardiola did was that he had the cojones to get rid of players like Ronaldinho and Deco and finally had complete faith in the youth system they had been building for years.

I'm not saying what he did wasn't amazing not many coaches would risk it like he did, but he didn't create anything new, he just had full confidence on the system that was already in place and went with it.

Those 2 are not comparable tbh. Mourinho won 2 CL in 2 different clubs. Guardiola had the same team with the same system he has implemented. Also Guardiola had a champion team when he started, unlike Mourinho who always managed clubs which have been poor in the last few years prior his arrival. Mourinho invented something new or upgraded something in the team to win CL. However, everyone who had replaced Mourinho always changed the system completely and tried their new system (Benitez, Gasperini, and Ranieri did it). If Mourinho had stayed at Inter or Porto after winning a CL, then we can compare them. I think they are different on their own way.

Edit: also Barcelona didn't win 15 trophies in 3 season.

hard to say that as an intersita, but AC Milan of the late 80s and early 90s (sacchi/capello erA) was better than this barcelona. My opinion.

guyz, strama is smart guy, he learns from his mistakes. In the 2011-12 next-gen series he lost against tottenham 7-1 in group stage then went on to win it. So, be patient...

But if you don't think he did anything new, you're missing out alot....


His changes to the fine details of Barca are what revolutionized them from Riijkard to the greatest team in the history of football. Things like his pressing rules, for example.

Actually, to be pedantic, the 7-1 had nothing to do with Strama. Samaden was the manager for that, iirc.

I didnt like Strama's thinking against Hadjuk. He can turn it around and his strength is to read games quickly. He didnt do that. We needed to change to a 4-3-1-2 to protect our slow and mistake prone defence. TBH Froggy was the only one who did some things right and thats about it.

I am sorry but his fault is 6-7 clear chances of Croatian young team on Meazza. I remember when we played against Chelsea in quater finals, we could play 10 days and they wouldn't create a chance.

WAAAAAAAY too early. You are comparing a team fighting for their life in the CL after nearly two years with a coach and compare them to a coach who has been implementing a new system to a new group of players for a month playing indifferently with a 3-0 lead.

Yes, its bad to concede chances like that, but as long as we learn and develop then we are on the right track. Great teams weren't built in a day.
