I think he was actually pretty good vs. Milan. Every touch of his either resulted in an opportunity for us to attack or drew a foul/yellow card. He was silky as fuck and I never saw him try and do something retarted like Guarin always does.
Prefer Guarin's "retardation" to Cassano's laziness. He gives up the ball in dangerous situations time and again and just throws his hand in the air and stands there. I remember Sneijder being crucified for similar behavior. It's okay when he is assisting and making decisive attacking plays, but today I think he ruined more attacks than he contributed to. I have yet to see anything from him that makes me think he's crucial in big games. I would have preferred to see him start from the bench.
