No one doubts Cassano's talents, but it's what he doesn't do. Mazzarri requires everyone to run lots and everyone to track back. Cassano doesn't. It's about the collective function of the side. Cassano is an individual. He does fantastic things as an individual. He doesn't work within a system. He plays as if he is the system.

It can't be the wrong decision because Cassano wouldn't do what Mazzarri would have required him to do.

Cassano's a good player, but he had no place at Inter, sadly. Im just happy to have seen him play at Inter at one point.

I honestly wish he never came. I think we'd still have Coutinho.

I need to let it go...

i don't except cassano to run a lot and track back because thats not his job i except him to come up with magic moment s. I know mazzarri likes a workmen like team but you can't have a team full of water carriers you need some creativity.

We would concede more goals. Cassano gives away the ball a lot and makes retaining possession more difficult because of his lack of movement.

Expect, not except btw

Anyway, I agree with a lot of what you're saying in theory, but the reality is that we've scored more goals than any other team in the league (somehow). And it's what Mazzarri wants

Secondly, with Cassano our tactics typically became "pass the ball to Cassano". We play far more as a collective unit now. Not a particularly technical, or creative unit, but a unit nonetheless.

Actually we can't possibly know this. Let's take our last tactic with 3-5-1-1 With Guarin as ACM/SS. Imagine instead of Guarin, Cassano. We would have way more creativity up front, and Cassano would make Palacio's offensive duties way more easier.
Last year we weren't much of a team like we are now. It is true Cassano's movement and condition are far below Mazzarri's wanted level. But the class and intelligence of Cassano makes up a lot.

But anyway doesn't matter much anymore

well cassano was great last year with the team unbalanced with a shit coach. Imaging cassano in this well oiled team we have now he would provide the magic we so lack

Shaun's point is that there might be some correlation.

The only problem with that logic is that you can't come up with magic moments sitting on the bench. The fact is Mazzarri wouldn't play Cassano, therefore we let Cassano go. End of history.

well cassano is a extremely good footballer and as good as anyone on his day. players like that you make them your star man and not put on the bench would we sell messi too if he did not fit the system. we should of kept cassano and Kovacic should be a starter if mazzarri not going to play these type of players and prefers workman like players then he can do one tbh.

If he is that extremely good then why no big club keep/sign him anymore ?

Parma must be the smartest club in the world.

what kind of logic is that?, oh barca wasn't interested in him so he isnt that good even tho big teams like madrid brought bale for a hundred mill so they all must all know what they doing. i dont care how popular he is and who was interested in him. fact is he would most probably still be the best player here.

Palacio was our best player last season, not Cassano

Cassano has more tricks, but Palacio is more effective on the field. And we're playing better without him.

well cassano dosent just have more "tricks" he has ( maby apart from kova) more vision, more passing skills, and more technique than the whole team put together. And how you know he we play better without him? You cant say for sure we do.
