It's actually pretty much the opposite. Back then we had a bunch of aging players on high salaries and it would have made sense to sell some of them and refresh our squad, whereas now we had a great young core and only needed to keep them around. We held when we should have sold, and are selling when we should hold.

The outcome is going to be the same though: 10 years of eating shit.
