I don't see how Ronaldo fits in Conte rigid system? Same with "I'm superstar" mentality likes of Sancho, Matrial and Rashford.

Bruno Fernandes would also struggle a lot under Conte. I can't see a position for him either in 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. He could only be useful in 3-4-1-2 but that system was really poor for Conte at Inter and i can't see a double pivot working with Utd midfield. It had worked at Chelsea because they had Kante running both for himself and Matic. Man Utd don't have such a player. They would also have a big problem on rwb. Wan Bissaka is a defensive rb and could only play as a rcb in Conte's system. There's Dalot but i don't consider him good enough to start for a club like United. Then there's the question what he's going to do with guys like Martial, Rashford, Greenwood and Sancho who don't seem to have a position in Conte's system. On the other hand, a Conte appointment would be great news for Van de Beek as i can see hi doing well in his system. I can see Utd playing like this if they hire Conte:

De Gea
Bissaka/Lindelof - Maguire - Varane
Dalot - Pogba - Matic - Van de Beek - Shaw/Telles
Cavani/Ronaldo - Rashford/Sancho

This squad is far from an ideal fit for Conte's system. Man Utd squad is built for 4-2-3-1. They will need big changes in the squad to adjust to Conteball.

Don't have one.
He started with 4 man defense when he first came to chelsea, and although he switched it afterwards, I can totally see that being his default formation at the beginning, coz like some of you here I don't see how he can play with back three and those players.

Question of ego of some of the players and the fact you basically have to be subjugated by him is the biggest problem for him to get hired. I think madrid players refused even the notion of him when he was being linked with them after the zidane departure.

Yeah. There were reports Perez had an agreement with Conte but Sergio Ramos blocked it.

I know one thing’s for sure, whatever system he’ll use, whichever players he signs he’ll win at least 1 major trophy in his time there. Most probably the league
I'd say that's likely but it's also very risky for him. That squad is not set up for him at all! I can't see him working well with Cristiano. He has to play 2/3 of rashford, greenwood, bruno.
I can see either Shaw or awb becoming a centre back. Maybe maguire will do well in a back 3. Not sure. This has the potential to blow up as well. United players are a bunch of divas.

Edit, I forgot sancho as well!

I mostly agree with this. My guess is that the "Matic upgrade" will be the first thing Conte will do in January. Followed by a top CB and a RWB. IMO Bruno Fernandes could work well in a Conte system as an advanced mezalla, or even as an inverted winger in 3-4-3. Bruno has been used to attack a lot more at Utd, but he has the ability to press and defend as well, and he has the energy Conte needs from his players. I think Conte will convert him.

Conte coming will be bad news for Sancho, Martial, maybe even Greenwood, Bissaka, Ronaldo... but it will be good news for de Beek, Matic, Dalot, Shaw, Pogba, etc. That said, Conte could easily revert to his Chelsea style 3-4-3 which might suit the EPL & his resources more, which may give more playing time for the likes of Sancho & Martial than they get now.

Will Conte succeed at Man Utd? I think he will. With access to abundant existing & future resources, Conte can build his dream team. Even if its a big tactical change at Utd, Conte already has a lot of quality players there he can adapt to his formation. Players like Pogba, Shaw, Cavani etc are perfect for Conte-ball.

I've just 1 doubt. Lack of a top Director of Sport, someone to manage transfer strategy. I have doubts about Conte there, and at Utd there is no one with football gravitas to stand up to Conte's requests in the mercato. At Inter (and at Juve) Conte had Marotta, who is a shrewd operator and a good counter point. That is quite critical. Some top coaches (like Mancini IMO) know exactly what they want but this is rare, most top coaches (like Mourinho for eg) who need a quality Director of Sport on top of them to do the transfers for them. Conte IMO is somewhere inbetween but I suspect he is closer to Mou in this regard. Conte may succeed anyway at Man Utd. But Man Utd will need something like Marotta+Conte to guarantee success short term & long term.

They should have went for Conte when they fired Mourinho. That squad was perfect for Conte. But the current Man Utd squad is a bad fit for Conre. It will take time for Conte to mold Man Utd into his style and i don't know if they have the patience for it.

Conte is also a bad fit for Man Utd fans and what they expect to see. Conte's counter attacking style isn't going to be appreciated at Old Trafford and especially his preference towards experienced players.
After having Ole I don't think its the patience they'll need

I think Man U have too much patience tbf.

Conte doesn't even negotiate with Man U, but as per rumours he already requested about De Vrij 😄

Well he’s bound to come for a couple of our players I’m sure: Brozovic is probably at the top of the list followed bu Barella and Bastoni

Brozovic, Bastoni, and if we still had Hakimi he would have been it.

Ah jeez.

This is a scary notion. You watch Inter because it's Inter, but I enjoy watching it because of those guys (and few others of course). I think chances are slim of that happening though.

They need to renew Brozo yesterday

I don't know where people are getting the idea Conte would make a move for Brozovic. He wasn't really fond of Brozovic. Brozovic was even offered in swap deals for Kante and Leandro Paredes in 2020. He would definitely love to have Lukaku and Hakimi but he's too late. I can't see him going for Lautaro as they didn't have a good relationship. From the rest i can definitely see him coming for De Vrij. He would also love to get Barella and Bastoni but the guys love the club and they would have to be forced out to leave.

Anyway, for the time being Man Utd are sticking with Ole. So far it looks like to me Conte wants Utd more than Utd want Conte and that's why most of the rumours are coming from Italy.
