Wow Mexico really impressed me yesterday, such a pity they're out!

If it wasn't for the stupid own goal and the coward ref, they would have won.:(

Ah well, I hope Germany beats the crap out of Argies.

LOL, get over it :p That was a clear red card and clear penalty. ;)

Plus you should of been happy for the winning goal scorer and his Inter team mates :D

pfft...when it comes to International futebol, the only players I've ever cared for is Bergomi & Rummeniege.
1990 was the first genuine World Cup for me and I remember being in tears after the loss because of Germany's boring and dull tactics, I can be honest in saying that 78 was a joke of a win but 90 belonged to Argentina, we were the best team in the tournament.

:D

that game proves how imporant Burdisso truly is, for the first time in the entire tournament, the defence looked shaky because Heinze had to play a true centre back role with no Burdisso, 4-4-2 doesn't suit Argentina or any other South American country.

Scaloni is a clown. Rodriguez is lucky he scored, otherwise it was the bench for him if Argentina made it to the QTRS.

Messi or Tevez need to play with Crespo, not Saviola against Germany.

the ref was a clown all right, Marquez almost king hit Ayala twice and no card was produced, not to mention the perfectly fine goal of Messi's in the last minute.

you can't take the playmaker of a team out this late in a World Cup, I don't think Riquelme does well against many Latin American countries who play the man marker role, Torrado stuck on him like glue, but against European nations they just don't know how to man mark him well, so Riquelme starts against Germany if it was up to me.

Only changes I would make is Lucho comes in for Maxi Rodriguez because Lucho doesn't go missing in 89 minutes of a match and defends better. Tevez comes in for Saviola because Tevez doesn't hope when trying to dribble past players, he uses pure skill and can actually win the ball well as well. Oh and ofcourse bringing back Nico ahead of Scaloni, if Nico isn't fit, still play a back three and take Ayala to right of the three, Milito in the centre & Heinze on the left.

Gonna be huge against Germany, I'm still not over 1990.

Well said. But it was also that La Volpe did the right tactical changes to give Argentina a run for their money. It's a pity that the 2 best teams of the tournament so far have to meet now in quarterfinals.

About Riquelme...I have to give credit to him. La Volpe did tight marking against him with the 3 midfields and have him no space to breath. However, in the second half he played more withdrawn in midfield and gave space to his other teammates and worked hard. I have never seen him play that way. Credit to him.

Also, credit to Pekerman for his subs, however....there's no justification that Capitano hasn't been selected, while clowns like Coloccini and Scaloni have been.

Oleguer, know anything about this Torrado bloke? He just about gave Riquelme the worst daddy slapping I've ever seen, very good defensive midfielder.

Just what I was thinking last night through out the whole game. I have to admit I had not seen much (if any) of Scaloni! So, last night I was like how the phuck does he get called up ahead of Zanetti!? I mean the guy was clearly the weakest link for Argentina last night! :wallbang:

exactly what I was thinking too. Scaloni was unbelievably weak. It could have been only worse with Coloccini in the line-up.
I don't know..maybe Pekerman chose the team, because Scaloni and Coloccini are good in BBQing and humorous, while the blokes might get bored of Zanetti talking about Subcommandante Marcos. That's my only justification behind this.

Luis, Torrado plays in mexico from what I know. Roman has it always difficult, when he plays against 3 men in midfield, where 2 have mainly defensive work and control him. I remember last season when Villareal played Barca and Edmilson and Motta also made life very difficult for Roman and he was very poor. Usually, he is at his best when he plays against us, so this meant a whole lot.
But as said, I give him a lot of credit. His second half performance and the introduction of Aimar, where he just stepped a few meters back was the turning point for me, and the quality Argentina has on the bench might be decisive for them.
