UhUhOleguer said:Again??? I thought the issues are settled for now and last time I checked, the squad was pretty balanced with players from Ittihad, Hilal and Shabab more or less brotherly shared. I thought that the team was pretty broad and the players from Hilal that played, really deserved to.
But last time I checked, Bahrein waived the Saudi flag after beating Iran , so no matter how much they love to beat Saudi, they sure as hell love more to beat Iran and if we play them in the second round, it should be one hell of a game.
Hamed said:Well, right now, most of the players are good both technically and professionally. Most of the problem in the past was with Hilal players, but right now, Kahtani and Shelhoub (two main Hilal players) are great guys that don't cause any frictions etc. The problem is now between clubs' management and the federation.
I really hope that everything is solved and interference from big-shots is absent. Like I said, if you base it solely on players, this crop is really good and more harmonious than before.
I bet that 99% of those that waived the Saudi flag were Saudis. Bahrain is like 30 min away from two major Saudi cities, you can just drive there over the bridge.
But you got a point, Bahrain may like to beat Iran more. I think there is alot of rivalry in the area, Saudi would love to beat Iran more than Bahrain, but I think that's because Iran is the better team. In any case, Saudi-Iran games are always great, I really miss those games of the 80's.
UhUhOleguer said:Well, it was actually the whole team but bahrein is really interesting. It belonged to Iran until some time ago and a lot of Bahrainis from what I know even can speak Persian(Ziyad should know better).
But anyway...I really look forward to Bahrain games, because usually in those games you see the best from Mahdavikia.
He once even told the story...Bahrain played against HSV a friendly and I think Talal Yusef used to call him all types of names and made fun of him because of the defeat of Iran. Mehdi told him that when they meet in Asia, he will have his number. Ever since then, you see him tackle, run, shoot, pass and play like a raging bull whenever we play Bahrain. Those games are always a joy to watch. That Iran-Bahrain game in Asian Cup 2004 is one of the best games I have seen from Iran in the past years...they played as if they were playing the world cup final.
Ziyad said:Yes ur right i know better Yes also lots of people from Bahrain have Farsi origins and can speak Farsi, but in no way was Bahrain ever apart of Iran, despite the misconception that lots of Iranians have..
I think we share some mythological history when it comes to Gilgamish coming here but thats about it..Bahrain was a British colony before having independence and was once a Porteguese one too, they still have ancient forts here..
Ziyad said:Dont worry about it,u guys already avenged that and will have lots of chances to do the same...I actually like that we have a rivalry with big guns in Asia like Iran and Saudi..
Hamed said:God bless Kahtani :boogy: A double against Bahrain (2-1.)
BTW Ziyad, what is with Mohammed Hussein? Does he really hate Saudi that much? I read that he was red-carded and he always plays rough against Saudi.
I remember him back when he played in Saudi league and he was a good player. But then he pulled some antics against Saudi in an NT game and they chased him out of the league.
I hope that at least he is still a good player!
