they don’t have to be having a good run, ours is just worse. They’ll have giant nose cocksucker rah rah’in them on the sideline while our cunts shiver and shake looking to no one for inspiration or leadership. Pencil dick coach has the aura of a freshly groomed poodle and the players have the mental fortitude of a prepubescent girls gymnastics class. It could be anyone really, these losers don’t stand a chance.

Assuming we squeak past benfica on pks next week, who’s to say bilan or Napoli won’t smash us anyway
Because we never get smashed by teams. We might go out against any of them, but it will be a close match.

MAROTTA: ‘INTER PLAYERS NOT MERCENARIES, BONUS FOR TOP FOUR WOULD BE DEPRESSING’

Interesting interview with Sky before the Champions League quarter-final against Benfica:
“The support of a crowd like this can certainly help the team, but then the players are on the field and must show the right determination to face a difficult opponent. They have two goals in their pocket, but those will not be decisive yet and we still need a top level performance,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

There have been reports that failure to get through to the semi-final would see coach Simone Inzaghi sacked.
“Nobody could’ve imagined at the start of the season that we’d be here playing for a chance to play in the Champions League semi-final. That is down to the coach and the players. Seeing as we are here, let us show these splendid fans something extraordinary that has been missing from this club for 13 years now.
“Today evaluating the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, we are in a position that we did not expect, so that has been extraordinary. We have been lacking in Serie A. Seeing as Inter are a big club, we must find that same consistency in the league and fix that defect.
“Naturally, playing in three tournaments is a strain on the players, but we must show how attached we are to the club.”

There have also been newspaper reports that Inter are ready to offer financial bonuses for the players if they manage to qualify for the Champions League next season, something Marotta absolutely denies.
“It would be negative, as players must not be mercenaries. If we have to motivate players economically to achieve an objective that is within their reach and represents a satisfying moment for the fans, it would be depressing.
“When I arrived, the first thing I did was to eliminate bonuses for the top four in Serie A. Inter must always be there. If the other teams are better, we take our hats off to them, but I don’t believe monetary gain would motivate them.”

Marotta was also asked by Amazon Prime Italia if there is a plan for what to do with Inzaghi if they do go out tonight.
“I don’t want to think about it. We know that the role of the coach is always the target for criticism, but we know how to evaluate the situation in the best way. We must work on the present and let the coach get on with it.”
Don`t know about you guys but it sounds like Inzaghi will stay if Inter manages to finish top4.

I suspect so, you cant fire a manager who gets you to the CL Semi/final, but I Really hope they have a serious meeting after the season ends to work out how we get, at worst, top 2 next season.

It’s we are champions or in champions league nothing else is acceptable for a team in our position.

It’s Juve, inter and Milan. Then you have Napoli, Roma, Lazio or Atalanta to come in 4th but these teams shouldn’t be knocking us out of top 4.

MAROTTA: ‘INZAGHI POSITIVE AT INTER, WISE DECISION ON LUKAKU’
Inter director Beppe Marotta insists coach Simone Inzaghi’s ‘work has been positive’ and a ‘wise decision’ was made on Romelu Lukaku for the Coppa Italia semi-final with Juventus.

The first leg ended 1-1 in Turin, so as the away goals rule has been scrapped, any draw here will force the teams to extra time and perhaps even penalties.

“This is certainly a season we are experiencing to the full, as we are protagonists in two competitions and partially in Serie A too, because the Scudetto is deservedly going to Napoli and then there’s a mini-tournament amongst the others for the Champions League places. That is important financially for the club and also in terms of prestige,” Marotta told Mediaset.

There are only three Italian clubs still in all three tournaments, Inter, Juventus and Fiorentina, as they all qualified for the semi-finals of their European competitions.
Nonetheless, the criticism of Inzaghi continues and there are reports he will be fired at the end of the season.
“We have full faith in the coach. Inzaghi is doing a good job, this inconsistency in Serie A needs to be evaluated as part of the full campaign. We have the opportunity to catch up in the final rounds, so considering the progress in the other tournaments too, we can consider Inzaghi’s work positive.”

Lukaku was originally suspended for this game because of his red card in Turin, the second yellow for a goal celebration that ‘silenced’ the Juventus fans.
However, the FIGC President Gabriele Gravina intervened with an unusual gesture, giving the Belgian a ‘pardon’ because he had been reacting to racist abuse from that area of the crowd.
“I think it was a wise decision from Gravina that fits the sporting atmosphere. The rules cover misconduct and a code of ethics not just of the players on the field, but also the protagonists of the match in the stands,” said Marotta.

Despite that pardon, Lukaku is only on the bench this evening, as Edin Dzeko is preferred.
“These are choices made by the coach, we respect them, as he evaluates performances and training. This type of match can go on beyond the 90 minutes to extra time, so it is only right the coach shares out the playing time and ponders all the alternatives. Lukaku is a professional and if he comes on, he will prove he is up to the task with the right attitude.”

Some of the Inter ultras are protesting in the stands this evening, taking down the planned choreography and turning their banners upside down.
It is reportedly because the ticket prices were released today for the Champions League semi-final and Inter’s ‘home’ game will be more expensive than the Milan leg of the tie.

“I don’t know how the situation is going. We have great respect for the fans and are ready to move towards their needs, as long as they are in respect of the rules.”
Inzaghi not complaining about the owners or transfer market
+ Marotta now saying this => to me it means that he will stay if he manages to finish top4.

Marotta words in the media mean nothing about Inzaghi future. He had an agreement with Conte since January and till the last match of 2018/19 he was saying they intended to continue with Spalletti.

Don Marotta awarded highest-ranking honour in Italy

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has been recognised for his services to Italian football, being awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

The football director emerged at Sampdoria, spending six years with the Ligurian outfit from 2004 to 2010 before making the jump to Juventus, helping kickstart a new era of dominance with the Old Lady.

Marotta was an important figure in the Juventus management and spent eight years at the club, helping them win seven Scudetti and four Coppa Italia. He left Turin in 2018 to join Inter, helping them win the league title after a decade-long wait.

As reported by TMW, at the Verdi Hall of the ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ Conservatory of Music in Milan today, Marotta was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, becoming a ‘Cavaliere’ (Knight).

Speaking at the ceremony, Marotta was overjoyed with the honour:
“This award is very pleasing to me and represents the crowning achievement of my more than 40-year career. I am very proud to receive it and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have been close to me and worked with me over all these years.”

The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, which allows for the post-nominal letters OMRI, is the highest-ranking honour of Italy. There are six ranks – Knight, Officer, Commander, Grand Officer, Knight Grand Cross and Knight Grand Cross with Collar.

Marotta: ‘Inter keeping hold of Inzaghi and Onana’

Inter director Beppe Marotta ‘thinks’ Simone Inzaghi will be coach next season as well and assures Manchester United target Andre Onana ‘wants to stay and we don’t intend to put him on the market.’

The club chief was speaking at an event after he was awarded the Order of Merit for his services to sport.

It has been a remarkable 24 hours for the Nerazzurri, who beat Milan 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at San Siro.
“We feel happy, but not euphoric because we won the first leg and have not yet secured qualification,” said Marotta.
“The performance was positive and bodes well for the second match that we must face with respect for the opposition. I have seen first leg results overturned in past. Milan will be fired up.”

If they do reach the Champions League Final, it will help assuage some of the criticism aimed at coach Inzaghi, especially as he already won the Supercoppa and booked a spot in the Coppa Italia Final against Fiorentina.

Marotta was asked specifically if Inzaghi will be the coach for next season.
“I think so, we do not evaluate a coach based on one incident or one game, but on a way of working and professionalism. Inzaghi is a fine coach. There is a small blemish, not just for Inter, that we weren’t protagonists in Serie A, where Napoli had an extraordinary march. We were just spectators in the Scudetto race, but otherwise the season is positive.”

Inter are receiving a significant financial boost from their Champions League campaign, but that won’t change their approach to the transfer market.
It is working so far, because free agents Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored against Milan last night.

“We have taken an approach based on sustainability, including Onana, Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian, who all made a big impact on the pitch, but not on our finances.”

With regards to Onana, the free agent has been valued at €40m and linked with a transfer to Manchester United this summer.
“It is difficult to predict the future, but we have not received any offers and the goalkeeper wants to stay here. We do not intend to put him on the market.”

Spot on, as always.

Incredible if you check the whole team. Ours XI is barely enough for Real/ManC to buy one-two players - cash count:
Onana (0€)
Darmian (peanuts) - Acerbi (butter) - Bastoni (12 cash)
Dumfries (14) - Hakan (0) - Mkhytarian (0) - Barella (36) - Dimarco (0)
Lautaro (24) - Dzeko (0)

haha but Correa was 30, 30m for Gosen and we lost Skriniar (50m) for free so that brings yours A+ home work down to a B- maybe lower

I am still of the opinion that we can't sell someone who does not want to sign for anyone. Correa is an Inzaghi request (same for Acerbi though). Gosens is indeed expensive but he has quality.

No one is perfect but more hits than misses is what makes a great sporting director.

In fairness, gosens was the best lwb in Italy when we got him. Everything thought we had robbed atalanta at the time of that deal. Unfortunately his injury was worse than we thought and affected him more. He seems to be coming into form again though. He's bulked up. And he's scored some really important goals for us, like his goal in camp nou

Where do you come up with "Correa is Inzaghi request"?
When did he request this player exactly?

The club chief was speaking at the Milano Football Week event organised by La Gazzetta dello Sport and discussed everything from his past and future to the present.

Marotta admits new Chelsea boss decisive for Lukaku, opens up about Spurs-linked Inzaghi
Inter director Beppe Marotta insists club directors have ‘always backed’ coach Simone Inzaghi who has a year left in his contract and admits Chelsea’s new coach will be crucial for the future of Romelu Lukaku.

Inzaghi was under pressure only a few weeks ago, but the Nerazzurri have won the last four Serie A games and beat city rivals Milan 2-0 in a Champions League semifinal first leg this past Wednesday. There are conflicting reports on the future of the Italian tactician who has also been linked with the Tottenham job.

“We can say that we are happy to have him. He is an excellent coach. We’ll talk about the future later on,” said Marotta.
“He has one year left in his contract and we’ll discuss everything with the other directors. There will be no problems, now we live in the present and a match that will be an important test ahead of Tuesday.”

At this point, Marotta was asked to clearly state Inzaghi would stay in 2023-24.
“I’ve never said the contrary, he has a contract so there will be continuity. There are different moments during a season, some with more pressure, while others are positive, like this one. We’ve always backed the coach also in difficult moments. There was a bit of tension, but is part of the game.”

Lukaku will return to Chelsea in June. Are Inter planning to bring the striker back again next season?
“He is on loan until June 30, then he’ll be back to Chelsea who will decide his future” explained Marotta.
“Will we bring him back? We’ll evaluate in the future when we’ll sit down with the technical area. Now we are focused on the present with extraordinary games ahead.”
“I don’t know what Chelsea’s intentions are, who their coach will be… If a coach arrives who wants to rely on Lukaku, then that’ll be the end of it. He has a lot of quality and having him is a positive, but the fact remains he is not our player. We’ll see further on.”

However, when asked for a number out of 10 to define whether Lukaku would remain at Inter next season, Marotta hedged positive.
“I’d say six.”

GdS interview touching on Dybala, Onana and Haaland + reducing costs
This Inter squad is packed with high-profile free agents who proved crucial, including Onana, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Edin Dzeko, but they failed to sign Dybala, who went to Roma instead.
“Perhaps the biggest surprise was Onana. I am very fond of Dybala, he was a kid when we brought him to Juventus, but choices have to be made and we had another four strikers in the squad. I think he did well to join Roma.”

If Marotta was given a blank cheque by Inter, then who would he go for?
“There are many players, but if I had to pick one, it’d be Haaland, especially as we were so close to signing him at Juventus.”

Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Bastoni are discussing new contracts and Marotta has ‘great optimism’ they will accept the proposals.
“We have to recognise that Italy is no longer the El Dorado of football, so we must seek sustainability. We have to invent models and the first objective is to reduce costs, which is achieved by getting the best out of young players.

“Nonetheless, if we are unable to build a team capable of winning the Scudetto, then we should be sacked. The equation that whoever spends the most money will win does not work. In 2010, something incredible happened for Inter and we should remember that football is unpredictable.”
Reducing costs by extending Dzeko & De Vrij?...

Marotta backs Inzaghi at Inter, reveals Leao could’ve joined Inter

The most recent result certainly left him feeling pleased, beating Milan 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at San Siro, and even Marotta admits that was better than expected.
“We have an advantage, but must also read the moment and be humble and motivated as well as have belief we can achieve something important,” said the CEO.
“We mustn’t rest on our laurels, experience teaches me things can change rapidly. We could’ve won 3-0, but then Sandro Tonali hit the woodwork, so the important thing is the performance. To be honest, I never would’ve imagined a 2-0 lead.”

That performance, as well as reaching the Coppa Italia Final again, retaining the Supercoppa Italiana and leapfrogging Lazio into third place in Serie A. Criticism remains of Inzaghi after losing 11 league matches this season, but the club now seems more inclined to keep their coach.
“Inzaghi would deserve a great deal of credit if we reach the Champions League Final, just as in negative situations the coach gets targeted for criticism. The culture of Inter is giving our all and Inzaghi is the greatest example of that, showing he was able to overcome high-pressure moments and perhaps exaggerated criticism.”

Marotta reiterated his claim that the long break for the 2022 World Cup in November and December made it an ‘anomalous’ season that affected Serie A results, not to mention Napoli’s domination from start to finish.
“As things stand today, we can only view the season positively. Being in three competitions, with two as protagonists to the end, means that’s at least seven out of 10. If we were further up in the Serie A table, it would be a nine or even 10.
It is not just the coach that has to be judged, but the club too. When we dropped points against the inferior teams, with all due respect, that means something didn’t work and it’s not right to pin all the blame on the coach. Inzaghi is doing well, he recovered from that moment of negativity.
“It was right for us to put pressure on him at the time, because we are Inter and must always do our best.”

During the event, Marotta also revealed an interesting behind the scenes transfer rumour that had more than a kernel of truth to it, namely that Rafael Leao could’ve been playing on the blue and black side of San Siro instead.
“Yes, I can confirm it. But then we made different choices.

Milan Skriniar will not be renewing his contract with Inter and can therefore join PSG as a free agent, just months after the club turned down over €60m.
I would prefer to talk about that after the season has concluded. It certainly could have been resolved in a better way,” he admitted, “but I want to talk about it later, to protect the club.
“If he can recover for the final, then the coach will make a decision,” Marotta said of the prospect of Skriniar playing in the Champions League final, should Inter make it that far.
“His quality isn’t up for debate, but he hasn’t trained for two months, so he could struggle to get up to the level of the competition.”
“It’ll be the coach’s decision in any event,” Marotta said of Skriniar in a prospective Champions League final.
Of the situation as a whole, Marotta admitted that “There’s still a lot of bitterness.”
Glad to see that he is protecting Inzaghi, admitting that the club made mistakes.

Depends on what you mean by free. One could argue that 'free transfers' are not free, because club pays agent fees and player signing-on bonus 😊

Practically speaking, he did not cost the club in terms of transfer fee. He is Inter academy product and DiMarco was actually used to balance the books.

Technically speaking, Inter payed a transfer fee to buy him back:
Inter raised him and sold him to FC Sion for €3.91M in 2017. Inter bought him back for €5M in 2018. Since then he was only on loan to Parma and Hellas.
