Marotta: "I left Juventus on a Saturday. On Sunday, Steven Zhang sent me a text message."

I have to admit I made some harsh comments about him but he proved me wrong. To be able to win the scuddetto just two years after joining Inter is quite an achievement with the the likes of Young, Vidal and mostly injured Sensi-- and without a reliable left wing back.

There is of course a lot to doubt to their true meanings to be here but as long as they haven't sold us, we should just be happy. They've put around 700m€ to have Inter where it is at the moment (buy price to Thohir + all the capital injected to the club).

Haha, by talking about the 2nd star, Marotta is not shying away from putting pressure for next season. Way to go Mr.!

Let Conte feel that now.

Also pressure on Suning to pump in money. Maybe Suning should also talk about reaching CL Quarters..

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta: “Satisfying To End Juventus Dominance, Now Dreaming About Second Star”

Beppe Marotta admits he feels very satisfied to have ended Juventus’ dominance in Serie A and has already laid down the gauntlet for next season.

Inter were confirmed as champions yesterday for the 19th time in their history, after Atalanta were held to a 1-1 draw away at Sassuolo.

The Nerazzurri have ended an 11-year wait for the scudetto while also dethroning Juventus after they had won nine straight titles.

“There’s no revenge here, there’s always been the right sense of competition between us and Juventus,” Inter’s chief executive Marotta told Radio Sportiva today.

“It’s satisfying to end Juventus’ dominance in Serie A; we have good relations but when you take to the pitch it’s right that you try to win.

“We know they are a strong opponent and we have other rivals too, so it’s down to us to make ourselves a threat.

“Our dream has become reality this year and I’m extremely happy.”

Inter need one more scudetto to secure a second star on their shirt (to mark 20 league titles) and Marotta made no secret of how much that would mean to him and the club.

“Our dream is to win the 20th scudetto and get the star,” he admitted.

“It would be nice to enjoy getting that star on the Inter shirt.”

Marotta also spoke again on his relationship with Antonio Conte, whom he helped appoint as head coach back in the summer of 2019.

“Conte is a proven winner with great values and he’s managed to transfer those values to his players,” Marotta explained.

“I’ve always got on well with Conte since we were at Juventus; those who know him know that when he’s made strong comments in public, it was to stimulate us.

“He’s a winner who wants to make progress very quickly, and so he wants the corporate side of the club to be like this too.

“I’ve never seen a winner who doesn’t have a difficult character.”

Marotta was then asked about Inter potentially having to sell key players in the summer, with the club known to be battling fierce economic problems.

“I can’t comment on this at the moment, the owners will give us the directives,” he said.

“What I can say is that Inter are aiming to cut costs like every other club.

“We’ll need a meeting with Steven Zhang and Conte to give us a vision; the owners have made lots of investments but we’ll need to talk.

“There are reasons to be positive, Conte has improved the team and the club has a good relationship with him.

“Inter is a prestigious club which has nothing to envy from any club in the world, but the owners make the rules and we’ll abide by those.”

On Inter’s upcoming Serie A title celebrations, Marotta admitted: “We can’t do anything too fanciful with the current COVID-19 restrictions.

“People already went a bit over the top yesterday, despite our appeals on social media, but it’s difficult to halt that kind of enthusiasm.

“I’m disappointed we can’t have fans in the stadium for the last game when we receive the trophy, that’s very sad.

“We’ll have a little party with the team but there’s nothing particular organised.”

Marotta on Tuttosport: “A return to Juventus is an eventuality that has never been considered, nor have I ever received requests from Turin. There is only Inter."

He also said this about Paratici: “The Turin experience has given me a lot, except for the bittersweet farewell, if you want to call it that. I've remained on good terms with everyone, except Paratici, but the issue is more on a human level rather than professional.“

Marotta must be delighted to have won this. Really sticking two fingers up at juve and paratici and possibly cost him his job.

Don't have one.

His ego right now must be bigger than piazza del duomo.

When you are so competent at your job, you moving from one club to another creates a powershift after almost eleven years.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta: “All Bonuses Will Be Paid, Next Week Meetings With Players Individually”

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta claimed that outstanding bonuses for winning the title will be honoured and that meetings with players have already been scheduled.

The Nerazzurri take on Sampdoria in their first match since being crowned champions of Serie A last weekend, having opened up an unassailable 13-point lead at the top of the table.

In an interview with Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia ahead of the match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Marotta insisted that there were no tensions behind the scenes and that he just wanted the day to be a moment of celebration for the team and the fans.

“My personal feeling is that this is a feeling that is reward for the efforts and the work done by Inter fans, players and staff, it is an extraordinary moment,” Marotta declared.

“Today is a time of great celebration for everyone, it is right that Conte and the team especially enjoy it. I can clearly say that there are no tensions. But I can confirm that talks with individual players will start next week to discuss with the players the issues of football in general and of Inter in the light of the pandemic that has created so many problems.”

Amidst suggestions that the Nerazzurri players and staff would be asked to forego bonuses for winning the title in an effort to combat financial woes, Marotta insisted that they would be honoured.

“In the meantime, I confirm that the bonuses will be respected and paid out because they are the result of a well-deserved achievement by the entire technical team. It is right that the club recognises it. For the rest, it is a snapshot of where football is at the moment.”

The former Juventus director also warned that mounting debts at the club were as a result of an outdated model in football and urged changes across the game.

“Today’s model is no longer sustainable. It sees labour costs always at risk of rising and any club would be close to defaulting. We must work on cost containment and the enhancement of resources but it’s not easy at this moment.

“There are no responsibilities, it is a situation that has arisen due to contractual commitments that had already been agreed and it could not be done otherwise. The club has spent millions of euros to win, now we will have to work to make adjustments.”

However, Marotta hit back at claims that Inter have been unable commit funds to new players since January, whilst refusing to commit to transfer speculation ahead of the match against Sampdoria.

“I think that this has been exploited, Inter have shown willingness to negotiate, there has been no turnaround. When it comes to availability you have to negotiate and find the conditions that were not previously there, which is why there has been no progress.

“It is clear that in a moment of difficulty the funds are a great tool, if the opportunity arises again we will return to negotiate, obviously always in the interest of the club.

“We have a strong squad and we respect it. The work of the big clubs is always to strengthen ourselves, but now we want to enjoy the Scudetto which is an extraordinary achievement. Today we are thinking about this and then we will evaluate calmly in the future,” Marotta concluded.

Beppe Marotta: “We’ve Started A Cycle At Inter, Antonio Conte Will Meet Steven Zhang Soon”

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta insists that the club have taken the first steps towards establishing a period of success, whilst revealing that meetings with coach Antonio Conte have been scheduled.

The Nerazzurri face Juventus in the Derby d’Italia at the Allianz Stadium, having deposed the Bianconeri as champions of Italy this season, and Marotta hoped to emulate them by enjoying a sustained spell of dominance.

In an interview with Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia before kick-off, the director praised President Steven Zhang and argued that Inter were looking to finish a positive season strongly.

“We come into this match as Italian champions, an unexpected thing that gives us satisfaction. We want to honour this in the best possible way, and it is in my job to to finish something after starting it,” Marotta claimed.

“I was lucky enough to find myself in an honourable club and with the confidence of President Zhang, a cycle has begun and we want to continue it in the best possible way.

“He (Zhang) has been here in Milan for some time, this is the Derby d’Italia and it is right that he enjoys it up close and in person.”

Marotta enjoyed great success with Juventus and helped establish a period of dominance for them, in which they won nine consecutive league titles, but felt the Scudetto with Inter was more unexpected.

“When you win there is always a strong emotion, perhaps this Scudetto arrived unexpectedly in the timing. So we are enjoying the end of the season.

“The page has turned with my time with Juventus, it applies to directors as well as to coaches and players. The move to Inter has stimulated and motivated me, crowned by this milestone that was unexpected in it’s timing.

“Winning is beautiful, we are happy with how this process has come about. We have followed a winning path.”

Despite leading the club to a first league title since 2010, coach Antonio Conte’s future is far from certain amidst reports that he is seeking clarity on owners Suning’s position ahead of the transfer window.

However, Marotta revealed that a meeting between the coach and Zhang was being lined up with the hope of retaining Conte for next season and beyond.

“Conte is a winning coach, and it is normal for winning coaches to be very ambitious. His period has started very well and he will only want to improve, as will everyone.

“As soon as possible, maybe next week, there will be a meeting between him and the President. It will be without the gloves, those were metaphorical. I hope we can continue together,” Marotta concluded.

Marotta sounds reassuring. I am optimistic.
