Marotta made the Icardi mess but in the end that was just good for the club. It was a mess which had to be made. Club made the mistake back then to give him the captaincy. Ausilio tried to get rid of Icardi earlier already before Marotta had even arrived. Now afterwards, it was clear they just needed to rip the captaincy and pay the consequences. Icardi was the banter era captain but not captain-worthy for a club which is looking for titles. He had grown too big because he was the best player in the squad by far. Wanda just created chaos and they decided with Ausilio that it just needs to end.

And they fixed the issue (Icardi captaincy). And then after two years they won the Scudetto. I'm completely fine with this turn of events.

The mess was completely unnecessary, at least in the middle of the season. We should just have told him and Wanda at the end of the season that they have to go, maybe then Wanda would also have created a mess, but not in the middle of the fucking season and we would have probably gotten more money for him too..

should definitely start appriciating the good things at inter and the rest of us should appriciate this brehme has 0 influence at inter :D

No one said that Marotta has netted a negative at Inter.

All that is being said is that there's an exaggeration of his positives and hiding all the negatives (there are more than plenty) under a not-so-thick rug.

Anyone who's part of a title winning campaign is part of Inter's history, in the good way, but pretending as if Marotta is... god and that we should be blessed to have him is just too much ridiculous fanboyism to ignore.

I am pretty sure it wasn't what we initially wanted. At first, we just needed a new captain, as Icardi was the worst one possible, due to his big ego and all the shitty behavior (TV show, fans threatening, autobiography). The captaincy was not a punishment, but a decision for Inter's own sake.

We did not expect Wandito could be that childish and proved that the management was right right away. He, instead of man the fuck up and trying his best on the (training) field to recoup the band, immediately faked an injury, and made the decision of selling could not be easier.

So far so good, Icardi -> Lukaku was the best decision Inter made in a decade.

The captaincy was Spalletti's decision and Marotta approved it as it would have helped him create a perfect alibi. The reaction was expected, because it played exactly the opposite way of what Marotta had promised Icardi. There's no way Marotta didn't know this was the end result. He wanted both Icardi and Spalletti gone, along with others.

The reason was that Icardi constantly bickered about Spalletti's selective treatment of the players and there were constant fights in the locker room between the 2 main factions. Handanovic was picked not only because of his service, but because he wasn't part of one of those factions.

The decision was entirely punitive and there's a reason why both Icardi and Nainggolan, both leading figures of the anti and pro Spalletti campus, were discussed as the culprits that had no place at Inter, even if they finished the season as starters. Whereas Perisic who was a catalyst in creating the locker room tension only left because he had a rift with Conte over his position and playing time.

To me Marotta is the single most important part of this current Inter. We have important players too but Marotta brings me the calm feeling we will be fine. Look how Juve have fared management-wise when he left. They are fucking disaster of a club.

We need to keep this man, no matter what it takes.

Looks like the last of the morons questioning his integrity have either fizzled out or shut up altogether.

Have been saying that from the beginning. Marotta is one of the smartest football executives on the planet. The day he came, this pazza visionless club started working with logic and purpose.

Suning may have run through a wrecking ball over his plans, but as long as Marotta is here, it gives me some comfort that we will do the best we can under the constraints.

Marotta doing great so far except replace Handanovic. Handanovic already need replacement ASAP.

My guess is that it was in the plans until the Suning financial crisis bombshell. Then the priority became to replace Conte, Lukaku, Hakimi & Eriksen. Handa replacement seemed like a lower priority.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta: “Exclude Any More Big Players Being Sold, We Wanted Vlahovic”

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has ruled out any more major player sales in the immediate future to put fans’ minds at rest, according to a report in the Italian media.

Whilst speaking at the Trento Sport Festival, as has been reported by FCInter1908, Beppe Marotta explained that football is a sport that requires spending to gain success and that is why they will not be selling key players after Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku were sold.

“We absolutely exclude it. I want to reassure our fans who are great fans: Inter exists and will exist in the future.

“Competitiveness is guaranteed and in football, whoever spends the most wins, players, coaches, managers. If this team is strong and has a goal, they can go very far beyond the name of the player.”

Beppe Marotta also admitted that Inter had been keen on signing Edin Dzeko for a long time before he eventually joined the club.

“When you think about a replacement, you prepare a list thanks to scouting and market opportunities: there are achievable and unattainable goals. However, there must always be the awareness of achieving your goals.

“Dzeko was a priority goal since last season: and thanks to the favourable circumstances he enjoyed a promise from Roma that granted him the free transfer at the time of an offer. There was ease also thanks to the seriousness of Roma, who kept their promise.”

The Inter CEO also discussed Fiorentina’s wantaway striker, Dusan Vlahovic, who was heavily linked with Inter during the summer. It is clear that Inter were very serious about trying to sign the Serbian.

“Vlahovic is a great talent, we found ourselves in a challenging situation in which we weren’t able to finish. He was the second target to compliment the attack, a player ready now and one in the future: it would have been the best. We were happy with the Dzeko operation.”

Nicolo Barella has become a star player for Inter over the last year and Beppe Marotta appears to put that down to his professionalism.

“It is one of the cases in which the talent becomes a champion. I have had to deal with many talents: Cassano was a fool, despite talent he never became a champion, I never had stronger players than him. But he had no goals, no precise vision of the profession.

“Barella has proven to assert himself more and more with continuity and today we find ourselves in front of a champion: it is right to reward him economically for what he has done. It is not a renewal, it is a gratification: it is right to adapt it to an important group of players.

“Captain? It would be nice, Handanovic is older: the captain is a qualification that cannot be given away, you need to have the professional and human qualities to be a leader. Barella can begin to become captain.”

Let's be honest, Marotta's reassurance does not count for much if Zhang overrules and comes in over the top with a decision to sell one of the abovementioned players.

Both Marotta and Ausillio supposedly objected to Lukaku's sale but that transfer still went ahead.

I still believe Beppe say something different if we had to sell players, there are ways he could have prepped for that.

Maybe we wont have to, but we probably will anyway. It's a Marotta thing to say he doesnt want and need to sell, then goes on and sell the players anyway because "they wanted to leave, our hands were tied"

Marotta just said himself Lukaku wanted to leave so they had to let him go. Marotta always operates that way. If player doesn't want to stay, he can leave (of course if the operation is feasible for the club ie. enough money is paid etc)

More from Marotta:

"Do I believe in the Scudetto? Absolutely yes. Our vision is to give Inter fans the second star.”

"Conte's decision was not predictable and it blew us away. A choice that is part of sport and life, must be respected. The clubs remain, the others come and go.”

"Eriksen? That moment was dramatic, Dr. Volpi immediately got in touch with the doctors on the field and managed to get an initial diagnosis. The best news was seeing the signs of awakening.”

"Eriksen's future? At this moment it is difficult to judge, we are waiting for the situation to evolve. At the right moment we will evaluate it, the certainty is that today he is still with us after overcoming his situation.”

“After Conte's farewell, we talked to the guys from the Curva. It's a very nice example of the relationship between fans and society, we explained the club's needs to them and they understood. And in fact they have always supported us."

"In my experience, you should never trust anything and prepare for the unexpected. Lukaku has expressed his intention to be sold to Chelsea and therefore it was impossible not to accept and respect his wishes. We started to negotiate and made our price: in the meantime we imagined the alternatives. In football these dynamics often occur: I did not feel betrayed, we asserted our request and carried out a beautiful operation.”

“If Lukaku had left earlier, would we have kept Hakimi? When players are enticed by much more important engagements, they often tell you they want to leave. PSG is a battleship economically, difficult to keep a player when he wants to leave.”

"Entry of a partner for Suning? These are assessments that belong to the shareholder. For me, the majority must always be in the hands of a family, entity or company, otherwise dynamics are created that can have repercussions on the life of the club”

"There can be the entry of a minority shareholder, but I don't think this is the best way to go because it would not guarantee a change of model that instead needs to be identified. With a bit of luck, we were able to put the car back on track and start again.”

“Dybala at #Inter? Yes, there was a possibility of an exchange with Icardi.”

"Lautaro?. He represents present and future. His future can only be splendid. At Inter? I hope so, we will do everything. We are about to announce an important renewal with him. He is really good and professional”.

"I assure you that Inter will continue to sail high and with economic security. The new model will not be pharaonic as before, it will be rational and reasonable. I can tell you with certainty that Zhang wants to move forward."

"I feel very good at #Inter. We have already talked about it with Zhang. He will be back in December and we will talk together about the future of the managers. I can say with certainty that after #Inter I will no longer go to another club.”

"With my team we have already talked to Zhang about our future. I can say that the conditions are all favorable (for renewals). We cannot imagine that the Zhang family must always write off but we will continue to fight for ambitious goals.”

"We know Sanchez very well. He would like to play always, what apparently is a feeling of protest must be transformed into attachment. He cares about the team. We will continue with him until he thinks otherwise.”
