From Opta Paolo twitter account:

For their first time ever, Inter have lost a Champions League match after leading by 2+ goals margin (28 games previous of today).

This doesn't make sense.
"First time ever!!"
"28 games previous of today."

At the end of the day, you can't have your midfielders run 7km in the 1st half and expect to win. Come the 2nd half Dortmund just overloaded Brozo and Barella as up until the Sensi swap, Vecino was nowhere to be found besides his goal.
Conte should have switched to a flat 4-4-2 or even a 4-5-1 as Dortmund swarmed our mids. I get he wants to play a 3-5-2, but you need to adjust to the flow of the game. The team struggle mightily to gain any control of the ball in the 2nd half, and when they did they almost lost it immediately.

Martinez and Lukaku played WAY to high up the pitch in the 2nd half and IMHO are NOT a good pairing. One tries to do everything himself and the other couldn't control a cotton ball, gently rolled to him, the only cohesion these 2 have is they both play ST. IMHO Lukaku wasn't the striker we should have gone after. This is yet another game against a formidable opponent that he's disappeared against. Some people on reddit/Inter believe he wasn't bad today because he had some of the best hold up play...I'd like to see a number behind this because from what I saw, he couldn't do anything nor was his movement any good, Marty was doing everything once again.
I've come to the conclusion that the people that believe Lukaku is playing well are delusional, in NO way is Lukaku even remotely as good as Icardi (not saying we should have kept him).

What.

I'm guessing it means there have been 28 occasions previous to today that we were leading in a champions league match by 2 or more goals. And, that today was the first time ever that we'd lost after being in such a position.

The 2 statement contradict each other or just poorly worded.
Either way doesn't matter.

You are perfectly aware that this is not an issue of a lack of a DM. This is a classic flaw of the formation style we are using. We are not wide enough and our wingbacks are close to trash defensively.

Well said. We don't have the proper players yet for this formation.

Skriniar, Godin and De Vrij are too heavy and slow to make up for our wingbacks. They're getting constantly exposed on the flanks. They're not Cordoba or Zanetti.

We conceded 11 goals without Dumbo
Dumbo's huge balls are desperately missed

Exactly because he's a better defender, and the same goes for Asamoah/Biraghi. The lack of depth is having its toll on the CBs.

I am still pissed as fuck. That second half collapse was just inexplicable.

It's just so hard to stay positive at this point. But here's how I'd put it anyway.

We should try to get the better head-to-head record against all the other teams in this group. We have done it against Dortmund (4-3). Let's just beat Slavia. Then, as crazy as this may seem, BEAT Barcelona. It's difficult, but no team is unbeatable. Plus, we'll be playing those fuckers at the Meazza. There's no excuse not trying to win that one. Otherwise, nothing else has changed from last season where we fucking bottled it against PSV at home.

Oh, let's HOPE Barcelona will beat the crap out of Dortmund at Camp Nou. They really should. It's the game that will seal their qualification to the last 16 after all. Then, again HOPE that Slavia will make life difficult for Dortmund in the last fixture.

Assuming we won't fucking bottle it AGAIN against Slavia though. :palm:

Damn it, I hate this circumstance. That 1-1 draw against Slavia hurts so fucking bad again now. The wound from that game has has been torn apart again after last night's result.

Despite the troubles we put ourselves in, with two wins we are still 100% certain to advance to the next stage.

The match against Slavia will tell if we even deserve to fight for this; the one against Barcelona if we deserve to go through.

Not all is lost.

It depends on which “we “ you’re referring to here, the biraghi, Vecino and Gagliardini’s we? Or the Sensi, non fatigued Brozo and a in form Lazaro’s we?

We need an overdose portion of Luck to do that, not entirely giving up on my team yet but putting so much faith in the first “we” is a closer step to suicide.

we wont make it, its not a coincidence that we are so bad in CL.

just look at other italian teams, atalanta LOL, napoli LOL, torino LOL, lazio LOL

Mauro Icardi has scored 8 goals in his first 10 games in the Champions League, only Sadio Mané, Simone Inzaghi & Harry Kane have done better in the history of the competition (9 each)

Almost everyone of those goals has been a tap-in or close range header, especially those for PSG. Wait until they make it into the knockout stages. He'll disappear just like the rest of them.

Yeah this shit won't be healed that easily. I didn't watch the Wednesday games and yesterday's Europa League only to avoid hearing some of the commentators saying how great a game Dortmund-Inter was. Fuck the very thought of football game reminds me of this colossal turd of a result. Gonna mute the Verona game since it's gonna be mentioned like a twenty times.

This result will go down in our history as a huge stain from a massive turd and we should all learn how to cope with it, having in mind that it can be only erased if we are through the group (very unlikely) but avoid some other disaster in the later stages.

Since you know, we gloriously beat Bayern in 2011 2-3 away only to wish we didn't, after we lost home 2-5 to Schalke 04.

Be careful what you wish for Inter, we fart in one situation but shit our pants in the next one. Catch 22 or whatever.

After game 4 of last year, Tottenham was in the same situation we are right now, is that possible?

edit: Yes, we had 7 points and Tottenham 4. Now we have 4 and Borussia has 7.

i want europa if not CL as we could win it, conte got juve to semis with a worse squad after all

not losing to slavia is imperative but obviously we need to win to give ourselves a chance vs barca who would prob be more nervous than we are if they lose to dortmund and if they beat them they may rest key players as group will be won

Oddly enough, if we beat slavia - yeah, I know, IF... - we'll actually be in a better position than we were last year after the Tottenham loss, because at that point a win against barcelona will see us through no matter what happens in the other game. Basically we'll have our fate entirely in our own hands, which was not the case last year - because if Tottenham had beaten an already-qualified barca, we would have been out even if we had beaten PSV (owing to tottenham's better HTH record in their matches with us). This year the one thing we have in our favor is a better HTH record with borussia.
