those players were the reason that's why Italy didn't qualify for WC. They are lacking big/strong mentality because themselves were born with weak mentality from their respective clubs (Sassuolo, Torino, Sampdoria, Perugia etc)....

if milan, inter can create more youth graduate players into their first team, Italy NT could be stronger than current NT right now...

In my opinion, it's very important to keep promising young players in the club and give some decent amount of match practice. This way, they will not only grow physically/technically but also mentally. Kids learn subconsciously they are playing for a big club and that they always have to aim high. If you send them to small clubs, yes they will get match practice, but they grow up weak mentally. That's why I believe those you listed became mediocrities.
But we had a period where we tried to introduce some young players, mainly during the Mazzari's and Starmal's tenure. JJ, Kovacic, Belfodil, Taider, Icardi, Brozo, Duncan, Benassi. Iirc even Mbaye and some other primavera players got some minutes. That didn't work out. We need players with huge potential like Icardi, Kovavic, Hakimi, Bastoni etc., who can immediately bring some results. Do you remember how inconsistent and poor was Brozo before Spalletti to find his spot? It was like 2-2.5 years and he was on the verge to join to Sevilla. Club like Inter cannot afford to develop couple of such players cuz it's too risky. Now we have Asllani and Bellanova as youngstars. Why to keep Casadei and give him chances? He is not better than Asllani. Where he will play in first place. Over Hakan, Brozo or Barella?

For those who ask Casadei to play in the first team, did you actually ever watch him play in the primavera previously? excluding the highlights on YouTube of course.

You gotta stop hiding behind this "coaches watch him in training every day" excuse.

I don't doubt for a second most of our youth is indeed likely very subpar. Rather than pointing to the common denominator that is all our previous coaches of the past decade unanimously assessing that no youngster at Inter was worth launching, you should be more concerned with the complete lack of club ambition to grow its' own products. The complete lack of long-term transfer strategy. That's where it begins and ends.

Maldini has been a sporting director for all of 3 years and it's already extremely visible what Milan is trying to do - buy technical and pacy young talent who will grow but who are also ready and capable enough to contribute immediately. Worst case scenario they dismally flop like Silva, Paqueta and Piatek and you can always sell them for good money because there will be others willing to take a chance on their potential. Can't do that with Mkhitaryan's and Dzeko's. Can anyone even describe or identify what our transfer strategy is?

As for Limone, as far as I'm concerned he's a fucking idiot so I couldn't care less or trust what he sees in training.

Guy has a non-existent record of promoting youth throughout his career (despite being a primavera coach), religiously subs off Lautaro after 50 minutes every game, like clockwork, in favor of the rotting corpse of Dzeko, and I'm supposed to trust his judgment on youth?
No. It's not an excuse. It's an explanation why our coaches don't pick these kids to play. They are not good enough.

Then the rest of your post is some odd criticism which doesn't even relate to your first line.

I don't really see any focus here in your criticism, it's just some random moaning about things which are wrong at Inter in your mind. Our youth development is wrong, our coach is idiot, we buy wrong players.

Coach does have ZERO responsibility in developing our kids at Inter. He doesn't pick kid to play if it doesn't help to achieve his goals.

This whole rant is indeed some grumpy old man yelling out his frustration.

the problem is, Inter wasn't acting like a big club at the time. We were hardly a top4 contender. We were broke and joke. Now it's different, we have won the scudetto and not dropped lower than 2nd in the last 3 seasons. We are playing CL football every season. When young players are part of such a club, they will set those standards and won't be willing to settle for less in the future.

You have no evidence these guys could have become something better if they stayed at Inter. And while they would have stayed, they could have compromised our results.

Him and bonucci and balotelli are the only talents in a 20+ years from our primavera that made any really significant impression

Also we wanted to keep Zaniolo but Roma wouldn't give us nainggolan without him

I don't get the point of your message. You are stating the obvious, of course, I have no evidence since it's impossible to rewind time back and convince Inter to keep the players in the club to see what would have happened. My opinion is based on my observations of other clubs, like Real Madrid or bbilan.

I truly believe Biraghi belongs on this list. He's good enough to start for us.

That is true, but which primavera players to introduce now, apart of Casadei? There is no prominent talent, who is really ready for the first team, and the departments are stacked for now. We lack replacement for Ranocchia, so it's possible to introduce a youngstar there, but it's quite risky. The other area is left wing, where Gosens might be not able to play on high level for whole season. But our brightest talent there, Carboni has already been sent on loan.

and, tbh, thats the right thing to do. 20+ games at Cagliari will do much more for his development than 5 at Inter

@.h. I don't disagree that most of our youth players didn't end up being world beaters, but that's beside the point I was originally making.

At Inter we would prefer giving 600 minutes to players like Vecino and Galgiardini even when it's clearly visible they add no value at all. My argument is why not give those minutes to a player in the primavera?

2010/2011 a season where Barcelona won all trophies available to them, they gave minutes to players like Marc Bartra 400, Oriol Romeu 99, Martin Montoya (our legend) 18, Andreu Fontas 600, Jonathan Dos Santos 200, Sergi Gomez 90. None of those players are Barcelona or top team level yet they still managed to get minutes in one of the best team in the history of football.

So I'm asking again, why can't we use these minutes to promote/test primavera players? Specially when doing so will save us money.

Pedri is a bad example..he was signed from another club after almost 40 league games. We took a bigger gamble on Bastoni and Asllani than Barca did with Pedri. You make it sound like he was a complete unknown when Barca started playing him
Las Palmas was in the second division when Pedri was there. So no we did not take a bigger gamble on Bastoni or Asllani who were getting top flight minutes and also a year or two older. Either way, replace Pedri with Gavi and the point still stands.

we signed Bastoni with 3 games under his belt.

Asllani has a total of 1350 minutes

Pedri had like >2x that.

Which players have come from man city's academy? Only foden cause he is a generational talent. One player is hardly giving chances to academy players.
The point is that even one of the richest clubs that spent 100 mil on Jack Grealish has given chances to its most talented youth players.

Foden broke through and has become a very important player. Eric Garcia was given his debut in senior football and made a regular contributor. Brahim Díaz was given opportunities.

It’s not always going to work out, but if a team with all the money in the world in a more competitive league can give its most talented youth a shot there is no excuse for Inter.

The point isn’t so much about Casadei (even though I believe he should have been given a chance by now) as it is our approach towards our most talented youngsters. Casadei is really a symptom of a much larger problem.

This is how I view it: we have a youth player who put up video game stats last season, who is actively being pursued by some of the largest clubs in Europe.

Is there a chance he blows, his numbers were flukey and are the result of him being a tad old? Yes. But if that's the case, we should be looking to sell him outright and not looking for a buyback clause. Trust your scouting.

Clearly we think there's something there. Why not give him a chance to earn his keep?

If we see he has great potential but that he's not ready yet, it doesn't serve any purpose to use him now. They see him in trainings every day.

Chelsea is ready to buy him, to use him in their U23 team, not in their first team.

But you are talking as if we've had Foden level talent so we have no excuse giving chances to our Foden level talents.

City also needs to comply with HG rules so they need their own kids in their squad.
