To be honest, I do not blame him. It would allow him to possibly make a jump in his career which he simply cannot do in Italy due to his age.

This saga has gone on for too long for a player that has never played a senior game for our first team. We should just get the deal done and take what money we can as he is unlikely to find his way into our first team even if he were loaned out and showed significant promise.

In my eyes, even if he explodes, 15mil is a good deal for us. It’s a sizeable investment in a youngster who has not even played a single professional minute. We’re in no position to take the time to develop him if another club is willing to pay these sums.

15m is nothing these days. If he flourish his price could reach +60 in no time and that would make this 15m deal pretty fucking stupid! Inter should just loan him out for a season or two and let him grow. If he fails to develop then sell him.

Or he turns out to be a completely average player and we make Chelsea over pay for a youth talent. My point is that 15-20mil for him is well above market value. It’s not like we’re selling him for a 4.5mil valuation. It’s a gamble Chelsea can afford to make but most clubs wouldn’t/ couldn’t drop this kind of money on a player with no professional track record. If Suning is demanding funds be raised, I would rather a million times this than lose Skriniar or Dumfries before the end of the window.

I say bleed them for what you can and move on.

Selling Casadei for 15m means shit if Suning needs 60m or more from selling players. That means at least one of Skriniar or Dumfries is gonna get sold anyway. And I expect this trend to continue next summer as well, if Suning stick around.

I know certain members here like to label all of our youngsters as average in order to justify the club's policy in getting rid of them but we need to stop this trend without watching how they perform in 2,3 seasons.

we need a salary cap. Fine we won't get 1st tier talent but we can't get that any way. Unless we develop it. No player In their right mind would chose us over Barca, Real, Bayern. Most likely not over PGS, City, Liverpool, Chelsea or Man U either but that is more due to $$$$.

Juve is also a way more prestigious destination especially since they aren't rebuilding and broke like we are.

So that kind of leaves Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Tottenham (if their coach leaves they will be shit), Dortmund (tho I see them more like a porto) that we can challenge for the same type of players.

But they want to sign him for their U23 team

I don't get how they are pushing, as obviously their offer is the same as before.

Today's Guardian says the Casadei is "moving closer" price around 12M from Chelsea. Options unclear if he'll go to their development squad or loaned back to Italy as stated in the article.

Given our track record of wasting promising players, maybe it’s best for all parties if we sell him for 15m. His aerial and heading ability looks so amazing though, i think we can use him as a striker when we need a goal and use crosses. With Lukaku attracting the attention, he can be a real weapon in those situations. I’d rather use him as a sub than Dzeko.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea develop him in that direction, a second striker or false 9 like Havertz.

What they mean is they are pushing verbally, not financially, and that it is Inter who is lowering their asking price.

The thing that bothers me te most is; Casadei didn’t even make the bench against Lecce, while we had room for two more players. I mean Chelsea isn’t retarted are they? They ain’t gonna offer 15 millions on a player who hasn’t played a single minute of professional football of they don’t think he is some kind of super talent? Wtf is the problem with Limone then?

Limone, Marotta staff co, and some fans here dislike youth players to test himself as a professional footballer in this club.

That is the question.

There is the camp led by a certain Finn whose attitude towards Casadei (or any youth player) is something along the lines of: "if he's not getting a chance, it's for a reason. The manager and coaching staff watch him in training everyday, we have to trust their judgment that he's not ready to play in the first team."

They will also point to the fact that he's 1 year older than the rest of the primavera which can be a significant factor at his age. i.e. is he just scoring tons of headers because he's taller and stronger than the other boys? Possible.

It's a valid argument. But it presents another question of how much do we trust the coach and their judgment in that case? Especially when weighed up against Chelsea's willingness to pay so much for a guy who has never played first team football yet.

Consider that Cobham has been ridiculously successful in recent years, producing the likes of Abraham, Tomori, Reece James, Mason Mount, Hudson Odoi, Boga, Christensen and Loftus-Cheek. When you consider that list of alumni and their strong interest in Casadei it makes you wonder, as you said, surely they must see something special in him? How much do we trust Chelsea's judgment then?

Sadly the answer to these questions is most likely: "it's irrelevant." We need money so desperately that we don't have the luxury to reject Chelsea's offer (which barely seems to have increased btw).

We also lack any kind of cohesive club strategy where developing an exciting homegrown talent would be considered a priority - especially given our ruinous financial situation and our need to develop saleable assets.

Fuckheaded state of affairs and there are still people refusing to criticise this management.

To provide a little bit of balance yes they have produced some good players but you're also avoiding the numbers game they play. They've signed hundreds of youth players quite a few with not insignificant transfer fees as well and many of those haven't worked out, and many of them have only worked out elsewhere - indeed afaik it's a frustration for Chelsea fans that they have players who only really work out elsewhere and aren't given a chance at Chelsea.

Very few of our kids work out anywhere, except maybe mcdonalds

Take it easy man @Universe :)

What management is doing is simply what the ownership wants. Ownership always dictates what the club does. Our ownership dictates we need spend less and make money with sales.

In this particular case, I could guess management have decided they rather sell this guy than sell a starter. Yes, it's not the same money but it's still money the ownership requires. Maybe they have proposed to Zhang that hey we sell these pinamontis etc now but don't touch first team and let's look the situation next summer again.

It's totally fucked up situation but it originates from our fucked up owners. Manamgent is just doing their bidding.

And what @.h. is true, Chelsea plays with volume. They have the funds to splash 15m€ for these kids and while Casadei is probably potential AF, it doesn't mean he's gonna be the next Lampard, Mount or even Loftus-Cheek. Also, Casadei might be worth 15m€ for Chelsea but is he worth that for Inter? If we can't develop him to be even that 15m€ worth player, why even keep him?

If we want Chelsea level youth program, it costs tens of millions and we definitely do not have such money at this point. Complaining about lack of that program now is just populism.

Ironically, also, look how Chelsea develop talent - go out on loan and demonstrate your talent and if the time is right we will give you a chance. That's exactly what I'm advocating for.

Literally every single one of their academy graduates except Hudson Odoi have done that.
