I think the reason for Depor's failure is down to 4:
1.Over-confidence

After beating Milan, they thought they were the best in Europe. But that game, they had nothing.Except pride and hope. That came off well and had a psychological impact on the playerz

2.Porto's diving and dirty play

Need I say more?Manuel Pablo thought he was in a wrestling match. So many of The People's elbow.

3.Winning at Real Madrid b4 this game

4.Lousy finishers.
They had so many chances, espescially Valeron

And finally, NO SPANISH CLUBS left! Which makes it fair for Italia..haha ;)

Depor lost because of over confidence?!

What over confidence? They lost because of the penalty incident only other than that nobody could have scored or opened the game...the red card made it worse for them...I think it was more lost of concentration that made them lose...It was a game in which the first team blinking would lose and depr lost their concentration a bit in the second half where u saw more Porto real chances and then the penalty(which almost got saved)...I dont think they were overconfident i think they were extremely tense and thats what resulted in their yellows and red, even though Porto were the dirty team in this one but their fouls were of a different kind.

I have to applaud Monaco like HELL here. I've never seen a team with as much determination and spirit as Monaco. Recall the quarter-final. Monaco were down 4-2 from the first leg against Real Madrid and Raul scored first in the second leg. This means they're 5-2 down. What do they do??? Whack Real Madrid back to the outer part of the galaxy by scoring thrice to even up the score and qualify through the away goals rule.

Same case tonight. They lead 3-1 from the first leg. Chelski charged towards them like 11 horses who's tails have been set on fire. They scored 2 goals, one right at the half-time mark. Chelski would have, on that stage, qualified through the away goals rule. What do they do after conceeding Lampard's goal??? Keep their head high, score straight away right at the death!!! And they score again in the 2nd half to clinch the tie.

I think credit must fall to Didier Deschamps. I'm sure the coach must have said some very encouraging words to their team at the half-time team talk.

A special mention goes to Rothen though, who IMO, is the best winger in the world in current-form. His performance against Chelsea were absolutely text-book 5-star magnificent fantastic I'm-lost-for-words. He ran up and down as if he has unlimited stamina. He pass through players as if he was Maradona. And he crosses from everywhere with any foot. Unreal. If we are playing with 4-4-2, I'd personally go to Milan, get on my knees in front of Moratti/Facchetti and won't stand until they say, "OK, we'll get Rothen." He has NEVER fail to impress me everytime I watch him.

Who would have ever thought that the final of the CL will be Porto - Monaco. :dielaugh::howler: If you said that on the beginning of the season, people will mark you as a crazy idiot. :D If you put your money on a bookmaker and predict that final, you'll be mutha-freaking rich now. :D I'm sure the odds will me at around 1000. :D

You are 100% right Han i wouldnt in a million years predict that but i really like the way things worked out the match today was really exciting and i hope the final is just as nice....Morientes is out on a mission i wonder if he will be stopped. At least without the big names i get to support someone in the final.

Its outrageous that Monaco and Porto are in the final. Like you said Han no one would ever had predicted this of having. But I'm pretty sure with 2 teams that play such a beautiful style of play that this final will be much more interesting then last years crappy final between Ju-Gay and AC Merda :p

Though I can't really root for a specific team since I like both teams :star:

It was a nice game, specially the first half. Monaco are really playing as if they were there before. Rothen is simply unbelievable, he plays on the right or in the left and is still able to impress.

Chelsea V Monaco was probably a top 10 all time great matches in the Champions League. A great example of how football should be played. 1st half never belonged to anybody even though Chelsea had superior possession. Credit to Morientes man. That guy was awesome. He hit the post and missed a sitter in the first half but still had the confidence to score a good goal. And coupled with Rothen(Han, yes he's up there with the big boys) and Evra in defence, i think they have what it takes to win the final now.Mesmerising stuff. This goes to show, that 8-3 against Depor was no fluke.Great game of football, definitely Champions League Quality... ;)

This was a great match and Monaco def deserved to go through. Chelsea had so many chances which they missed and if they had gone in at half time 2-0 up then it might have been a different story. I never would have guessed Porto and Monaco would get in the final but well done to both and hopefully it will be a good match.

Oh I can't deci
I think its a good lesson Porto and Monaco have taught the football world. Money does not buy trophies. Neither of these 2 clubs have "superstars"and yet they have achieved more than everyone expected. Inter take note!

well, as an inter fan ... I will not make such prediction at the beginning of the session... :dielaugh: :dielaugh:

after Inter failed in CL, I just wanted Milan, Juve, Real and Chelsea to be knocked out as well..

I did expect this final though (expected not predicted)..., I am just happt that none of the biggest teams from the biggest leagues won the trophy this year

Inter did take note, man! we didn't have mad buys for almost three years now...

but a team like inter can not afford not buying big stars when they're available..
