Champions League list 2019/2020

This is always a funny subject so let's start figuring out how our list is going to look. Thank god we don't have those irrational SA restrictions anymore and we can list 25 players. 8 of those are homegrown (4 club-trained, 4 association trained).

I added Sanchez and Biraghi since they look likely to join. Like we can see we need those club-trained players. After Biraghi we still need to add two kids to the list so effectively we have 23 players (since in B-list we can include kids like Esposito anyway, who is not club-trained btw).

Yes, I put only the most likely transfer dealings applied to the list. We have still Icardi issue unsettled which if settled will activate further deals. Even without that we will probably go for midfield acquisition like you said. Cheap cost in the case Icardi doesn't get moved. Valero would be good to get out of that list and out of the club completely and maybe that kind of move will guarantee it happening when the man realizes he doesn't get minutes this season.

Then the forward department is a bit not-ready yet. Preferably we ship Politano the fuck out and have someone more useful type of striker. But let's see what will happen.

Llorente is only going to be a backup, or one we use in the final 20 mins of a game. I would be very much against signing him as well, but Llorente was a big reason why Tottenham was able to beat Ajax and City to reach the finals.

yeah Llorente isn't even that bad if he's only a bench player. Remember him with Conte at Juve, he did always make important goals for them. A good joker for the last minutes..

Llorente would be pure insurance policy imo. Just to make sure we don’t suffer during an injury crisis or have to use Rano as a forward if we get in a situation where we are chasing a game against a park the bus team.

That was 5 years ago, when he was 29-30 years old. I wouldn't mind Llorente of 5 years ago as back up. However, he was shite as back up at Spurs over the last 2 years - Spurs also needed a back up striker, but they let Llorente's contract expire. Coz now he is 34, and plays like Ranocchia in attack.

This is just a complete waste of money. I would prefer to use Esposito as 4th choice.

But we use the same logic to ignore the last x years of performance from Sanchez and Lukaku.

So who cares? What if he can play well in the elderly league like Serie A?

The same argument for Sanchez was used with evidence of Di Natalie and Quagliarella being top scorers in previous years, they were never world class in their entirety of their career. So perhaps Llorente isn’t such a bad choice then?

Llorente not 3 months ago sent Tottenham to the CL final because Ajax's defence couldn't cope with his ability to hold up a long ball. [which of course enabled Lucas Moura to show his quality, when some would say that he was "finished" by his 1st PSG season]

He'd be a useful player to have on a 1 year deal, with 1.5m max. Then Crzd would whine about paying 3m on both Llorente and Ranocchia, but at least we'll have some players you can throw in when you're desperate and keep the crossfest going.

I mean if we gonna continue with the Candreva on the starting line-up then we should finish it up with a Llorente on top.

Agreed with brehme on this one. Llorente was a huge factor in Tottenham eliminating Ajax. That's not to say we should sign him of course. Personally I'm happy to use Ranocchia as a forward purely for the entertainment factor.

So no surprises apart from the fact we apparently didn't have enough club-trained players even in our youngsters as the list is only 23 names long + B list players. Having Dimarco in the squad will give extra safety to wings and will allow Asamoah to be used as midfielder in emergency.

I've had the Berni discussion for three years running now. I believe we haven't classified him as CT once in the past three years. He's not eligible for whatever reason.
