Maybe it was to really cheer Ericksen up. Nothing would make me recover faster than a gk I scored a belter of a free kick against earlier in the year.

that was tatarusanu :awyeah:

Danish NT have posted on twitter that he'll get an ICD (heart starter). From what I know about ICD only moderate physical activity is reccomended, although I believe Daley Blind have an ICD...

edit: i'm reading on twitter that you can't play with an ICD in Italy.

Happy for Christian. But sadly his football career is over.
Was a pleasure to see you in these colours, Christian!

I believe an ICD is what Fadiga had as well, he was advised to medically retire but chose not to in England?

Question for me now is what our insurance policies are. I think we should have salary cover for him as discussed a few pages back, but I dont know what the transfer fee situation will be.

It must be a relief for him, at least, to know what the problem is and that it is treatable.

What, why should his career be over when he is still able to play football just like Daley Blind does?

Stop spreading these BS rumours before something official has been communicated. Troll.

with Fadiga, this was the situation:

English club Bolton Wanderers signed Fadiga for the 2004–05 season, after he passed a medical. However, before he made an appearance for Bolton, he collapsed prior to a match in October, and had to be fitted with a defibrillator due to an irregular heartbeat. Despite stating his desire to return to the game, medical specialists urged him to retire, warning that if during a game his chest was knocked the defibrillator could fail, leading to instant death. However, following a period of rest and passing a medical, Fadiga returned to the Bolton squad in early 2005 and played in five games.

Obviously things have changed a lot since then with Muamba/Morosini/etc, so I dont know what Serie A law is now. But I believe Italy was trying to be stricter than other countries with the heart thing, so it wouldnt surprise me if Lyran's post is true.

This is from 2009 with a Dutch footballer who has an ICD that saved him.

You can’t play with a pacemaker in Italy, Christian just got one. He got the best possible outcome in this scenario and ny opinion based on these facts is that he wont return to top football. Yet I am the troll here?

Obviously, Eriksens career isnt over just because the Italian law forbids it. Football is played elsewhere as well.

However we will see what he decides. Honestly I hope he decides to continue if it is a possibility as it is very inspirational for others with ICDs.

So football is only played in Italy?

well obviously football is played elsewhere, and then theres a question of his risk appetite. My point is I dont know what the latest laws are, but he's unlikely to play again in Italy, I assume the UK and Spain are similarly strict. At least the Netherlands seem to be more accepting of it, so maybe back there is the best decision for him in the short term.

From a practical side, though, there might be legal complications for Inter. For example, I can imagine insurance wont pay him his salary, and wont pay Inter his transfer fee, if his registration is transferred to another club, rather than medically retiring now.

Exactly.

I do completely understand him if he decides to retire. I do as well understand if he decides to continue.

However, nothing official has yet been released about his career decision which is my point.

I am reading different stories about footballers with ICDs that continue to play at first but then decides to stop after a few years as they are either too scared or because they have had new incidents of heart attacks. Daley Blind is in the other end as it seems like it doesn't affect him.

We will see what Christian decides.

We need to understand the financial implications further, but if he's insured to his book value, that'll mean saving quite a bit of money this year on amortisation budget, and if insurance covers his salary (or at least the danish FA do which they have to by law up to 7.5m gross), it will actually help a lot with the reductions we were looking to do this year

I know thats morbid AF, but its the truth - it does free up some cash for replacements potentially.

Do not know the law. But a ICD is not a Pacemaker in the stricted word. So it might be possible to play in Italy.
