Which European countries (except the Netherlands ) allow footballers to play with a defibrillator ?

Wrong question really. The correct one is Is there really any place in the world that allow someone who has had a cardiac arrest to compete in professional sports.

The most probable answer is sadly No. But fore good reasons.

I doubt we get a penny for him tbh. Why would anyone pay for him?
I agree, that is why I mentioned Onana because for Ajax he doesn't have a real book value, too. In that way they at least get a great midfielder in exchange instead of waiting till summer when he leaves for free.

Ericksen to Newcastle then 🤣😂🤣

Joking aside, I can see it tbh. Isn’t super young/ old and has good playing years left, great talent, would jump on the wage they’d give him and he’d be a star there. Something that also acts as a statement. It might also lead to…other things…takeover related…😛

Am I missing something here?

Seeing as we bought him in January 2020 at around 27 million, doesn't he still have a FFP-value of around roughly 18 million euros? I know he likely can't play for us, but as long as his wages are paid for by UEFA (I don't know if they'll continue to do so), why the hell should we even entertain the notion of releasing him on a free transfer? We'd register a major loss that would almost entirely nulify the net positive we got for Hakimi, for instance.

Yeah pretty much like that.

UEFA/FIFA will probably pay most of his salary till the end of this season at least. So I guess he will continue being at Inter till that moment, unless we find a deal which allows us to register minimal capital loss on his release from his contract (ie. getting a good enough transfer fee).

Can Inter appeal to UEFA for FFP about this particular case? Cuz it's clear that he cannot play in Italy anymore and obviously nobody will pay any money for him. There is no fault of the club here.

I'm waiting to see some clarity in terms of what financial compensation we're receiving from UEFA. Are Eriksen's wages covered until his contract expires? If so, the best solution for Chris (and club) would be to send him on free loans for the remainder of his Inter contract. If the accounting implications (i.e. the capital loss) are covered by insurance, we should terminate his contract and let him pursue options in other countries.

There is absolutely zero chance Eriksen would join Newcastle.

Eriksen main motivator, if he choses to return to football, it obviously not money. He has enough of that and he was born in highly developed country where the mentality is generally different. If he was from some 3rd world country and born in absolute poverty i could see it perhaps.

He moved to Inter to have a better chance of winning trophies than at Spurs, Levy would have matched any wages and probably more, but he chose to leave spurs because they had no chance of winning anything.

Newcastle would be even worse than Spurs in this regard, so obviously Eriksen would never in a million years join them just for the money at this stage in his career.

If Eriksen cant have his ICD removed and keep playing in Italy, it will be between retiring or going back to Ajax, thats 99.9% certain.

from FIFA/UEFA, the salary I believe is only one year. I'm not sure what other business insurance policies we might have, though.

We probably need to take the capital loss, unless we've got a policy that covers it, and then just accept that we got a 1/10000 bad luck

It was always going to end like this, people wanted to believe he can play for us again but there's no legal or rational way to pull that off.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Christian Eriksen is tempted by a return to Ajax, where he could play with a heart defibrillator implanted.

The 29-year-old is unlikely to be given the green light to play in Serie A again after having a heart starter implanted last summer.

In Italy, it’s forbidden to play with a heart defibrillator implanted, as per the Cardiological Organizational Committee for Sports Fitness protocol, which was updated in 2017. Italian authorities do not allow play any contact sport with a heart defibrillator implanted as any contact or hit could break the device.

Eriksen still has a chance to play in Italy, but doctors would need to prove a temporary illness or a virus caused his heart disease.

Eriksen could continue playing in other European divisions, such as the Erediviese, where Ajax and the Netherlands defender Daley Blind plays with a heart starter implanted. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Inter don’t expect to get any payment for Eriksen, but his exit would allow the Serie A champions to save his €7.5m-a-year salary.

The report specifies that every decision will be taken together with the player and his entourage, with whom Inter are on excellent terms.

I'm not a doctor but I don't think there's any evidence that can prove that.

Yeah FIFA/UEFA pays his salary for one year so I guess we won't send him anywhere before that, unless someone wants to pay money.

It's terrible though if we need to eat all that minusvalenza.

It doesn't have any real implications, though. FFP is dead. Any potential buyer would disregard the expense as a nonrecurring item when performing their valuation of the club.

Yeah, books matter even if there wasn't FFP (there still is).

A bit relevant. Aguero's case wasn't half as severe.

I never understood the thought process behind saying "Eriksen isn't allowed to play because of the cardiac arrest only in Italy, but he can go elsewhere and continue his career". Wut? The risk of suffering another attack is the same wherever you go. These restrictions aren't there for fun, they are safety precautions.

It's like the same people who drive without a seatbelt but put it on as soon as they see a cop nearby - thinking they outsmarted the system :palm:
