Enzo with the dickhead move of the summer. Now you’ve pissed off all your French teammates at Chelsea. It’s a bold strategy so let’s see how it plays out for him.

I see there’s some drama brewing about Argentinian players questionable choice of song… please don’t be Lauti or Carboni 🫣

If my kid who played in the US National team and they said his dad's Colombian and his mom Korean.... but plays for the US? How is that racist?

I don't understand the outrage on this. The Argentina players and in the league they done/said much worst things about black people.

all the crying from the French just shows that the Argentinians sang the truth.

also, could care less about the French cunts, when their players were making fun of Asians in the past.

You live in the USA, you should know political correctness of all people.

Not sure why I'm bothering to respond to this, but here we go.

I'm looking at this strictly ignoring whether immigration is "good" or "bad." Make whatever conclusions you want on that. But a large portion of the French NT are, factually, sons of immigrants.

So you have guys like Mbappe, who was born in Paris but whose parents were born in Cameroon and Algeria. He speaks French, is a French citizen, grew up in France, and who knows if he has ever even visited Cameroon or Algeria. I'm sure some players haven't been to their parents' native countries because of war, the cost of traveling, etc. So what NT should he play for?

People get upset about this song because it's implying that if you aren't really French, you shouldn't be able to play for the NT. If nothing else it's implying these dudes aren't French. But it comes across poorly because all these dudes are French citizens. Citizenship is the only reasonable basis we have determining national team eligibility. So, are they lesser citizens because they're immigrants? Not hard to figure out where this is going when you have an issue that several people either favor or hate.

I get why everyone is frustrated with international football, because in a more global world there are tons of people with dual nationalities, so they just pick whatever country is most advantageous to them. For some players it an emotional connection. For others it boils down to playing time or money. Looking at you, Retegui.

Funny how it was ok when their own coach called them Africans. Dont remember any of the players bitching about it.

@ADRossi My interpretation is that the Argentines tried to be clever in a retort to Les Bleus singing about Messi after WC2022 that was seen as an affront

I would concur that it was douche of the French to sing it and certainly Argentine team was in their right to respond but let’s face it these things always spin out of control even without the racist undertones

Shameful from the players, no question but I think the French baited them as well that while not a justification it does underscore how taunting is not sportsmanlike and players should be better

The irony about the song is that even within France, this has been a long running topic for decades so it probably cut deeper for the players

The French sang a song that said Kante “is petite and he stopped Messi” this isn’t really comparable.

You live in the USA, you should know political correctness of all people.

African Americans,
asian Americans,
Mexican Americans

I have friends who are "Mexican" their great grandparents lived in the California and Texas while it was still Mexico. Yet They are "Mexicans" by a bunch of people whose grandparents came over 30-50 years ago and are 2nd generation Americans. "african' Americans have been here like 100s of years... yet "African" Americans haha

So I don't know about political correctness but just like in France. If you are not "White" French/American you aren't French/American unless you are a top athlete or win them something for that country. Let's not all forget how Balotelli was treated in Italy.

I pointed out that the French taunted Argentine team in wake of loss focusing on Leo. Never made a claim over comparability - both wrong with one racist still makes it two wrongs

Is saying Kante stopped Messi even wrong? They won the game. Meanwhile saying someone born in France isn’t French is factually incorrect.

You see a lot of winning football teams serenading the team they beat at the final whistle?

It’s baiting, why feign ignorance
