This guy was €4m or so right? Fucking waste of money. At least ship him somewhere he'll actually play.

Inter are currently in talks with Swiss side Basel over a deal that would make the loan move for Inter-owned striker Darian Males permanent. This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who are claiming that Basel owner David Degen spoke with Inter sporting directors Dario Baccin and Piero Ausilio today about bringing the young Swiss striker to the club on a permanent basis.

Males has made seventeen appearances in all competitions for the Swiss club during the second half of last season after spending the first half of the season at Genoa, and they are said to be keen to sign him permanently. Inter see the 20-year-old as a potential capital gain, having purchased him from Swiss side Luzern for €2.5 million in the summer of 2020.

Males’s value could rise to €3.5-4 million when Basel buy him, representing a profit for the Nerazzurri on a player purchased only a year ago.

Inter’s goal is to achieve a quick capital gain on the young striker, as part of the broader objective of mproving the financial situation at the Giuseppe Meazza.

What the fuck? So we aren't selling him permanently? :D

Basel gets a player for free for two years. And still gets an option to buy for 3m€? What business is this? How does this benefit Inter in any capacity?

Its a failed investment. We are just cutting loss.

We had many of these type of failed investments. Management might think its a minimal risks investment given the amount involves. But I think we have had too many of these.

Hopefully there is a counter option if he “explodes.”

Basel has done well developing talent in recent years.

Anyone think we are dumb sending Males to Basel while we already have Esposito there? They are just competing for playing time.

Esposito is being played more as shadow striker after the main one while Males plays more on the wing.
Anyway Males is as good as gone , he has a very low redeem clause if im not wrong without buy back so lets focus on our kid more

I have to admit that I hardly watch any matches in my own domestic league😁 so I am as informed as anyone else here regarding Males' skills.

As for the league as a whole, what I know is that the quality is hit and miss and can vary strongly from season to season (despite consistent winners). I would rank it above Serie B simply because Super League clubs can afford better players than those in Serie B

Can someone provide some perspective on the Swiss league? Is this a Serie B equivalent? Better? Worse?
i think that Basel and Young Boys would have no problems playing in the serie A. They'd probably be somewhere around 7-15 spot on the table. Then there's 2 or 3 other teams that could also play, but fight not to get relegated. Then theres 3 clubs that would be good Serie B teams and others that are left are pretty much shit.

Pretty much what shark and IM21 said...
So i would rank it slightly above serie B Imho the top two teams in the league are on the level of decent serie a teams as in imho they d finish top 10 in normal seasons. On the other hand the worst two teams would probably struggle to stay in serie B. The rest is somewhere in between and fluctuates greatly from season to season I d say there somewhere in between the top serie B teams that get to the playoffs and the bottom serie a teams that fight relegation.

Good thing about the swiss league is that most clubs have finally accepted that their a fedder league and that focusing on youth is the way to go or the way to finance the clubs. So there is not this hesitancy to play youth players even if they are on loan.

Since it s only a 10 team league the intensity imho is also higher than serie B with 4 places in Uefa competitions up for grabs 1 direct relegation spot and one that has to go to play outs and the bulk of the league being relatively close to each other in terms of quality theres usually something to fight for for most teams till very late in the season. Last season the second was closer to the last in the table than they were to the first....

Another plus is if you get to play for basel or YB chances of you getting minuters in the EL are quite high.
