I believe there are enough reasons to start his own thread, as Frattesi seems like the clearest midfield target for the moment and fits the club`s policy.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: Inter wants to improve the quality in depth of Simone Inzaghi’s midfield ahead of next season.

There are no plans to sign a midfielder in January although that can change if Stefano Sensi or Matias Vecino leave the club this month.

Davide Frattesi is the player that Inter is working hardest to acquire, with talks already underway between the two clubs.
There are two other names that are of interest to the Inter executives. They are Spezia’s Giulio Maggiore and Empoli’s Samuele Ricci.

It is likely that the club will attempt to acquire Davide Frattesi as well as one of the other two aforementioned players. There is also always the chance that Inter will make another move for Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez.
The 22-year-old Italian midfielder has been one of the stars of the Neroverdi’s season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 20 Serie A appearances. One of his goals was in the 2-1 win over Juventus back in October.

# The deal

Calciomercato.com: Inter’s plan to sign Frattesi involves 19-year-old Italian defender Lorenzo Pirola, who is currently on loan with Serie B side Monza. Sassuolo chairman Giovanni Carnevali is a big fan of the centre back and would be keen to acquire him.

Inter value Pirola at around €9m, whilst Sassuolo value Frattesi at around €25m, which could even rise to €30m should the Italian midfielder’s strong form continue or improve over the coming months.

Both the Nerazzurri and the Neroverdi are in talks and are discussing a loan exchange with obligation to buy clauses attached, with both clubs wanting to pull off permanent transfers.

We should make a double deal with Sassuolo. Buy Frattesi low, Scamacca a bit higher. Roma has 30% stake at Frattesi so Sassuolo loses less if they sell Frattesi for cheap. If there was tin foil hat in my head, I'd say Marotta and Carnevali have started to downgrade his value via media by stating Inter values him 15m€. This goes on the whole winter and spring. Then in the summer we buy him for 15-20m€ and the valuation is so widely spoken around that it's not a surprise or anything, so Roma needs to eat that shit and they lose those extra few millions.

Then we put little more in the Scamacca deal.

On one side it is clever, but on another we will inflate the valuation of Scamacca and we won't get rid him in case if he fails.

Remember how the entire team can play for a forward (Icardi, Lukaku, etc) and make him THE STAR. Scamacca won`t have the option to fail here, especially after such an investment. He has been picked to be the next italian forward to represent our club, on the long run.

I`ll go with Cafe on this one and that`s probably what is going to happen.

Beppe is on very good terms with Carnevali and none of them wants to pay Roma. So they may even include overvalued player for Frattesi to reduce that % towards Roma.

I think we've seen a similar thing play out in the past but cannot remember what it was.

But you're right, that's the direction we're headed at but it comes with a risk of Roma coming with a 30m offer since they'll only pay 21m, whereas if he goes to Inter they'll get 9m from that as opposed to 6m and a rival getting stronger. That 3m is a starting player's salary for them. Sassuolo would get 21m vs 15m for example (if it's around 22m) so they won't really mind.

Yeah sure but we are not buying with the thought he will fail. :) There's always a risk for that, but there's an environment for him to succeed here. I really don't see big risk for a failure.

This is a good point but for this we need to tap Frattesi hard during the rest of the season so he won't even consider a return to Roma.

And generally it's about the whole thing, Frattesi AND Scamacca. The overall price of those two is what matters and what Sassuolo can get from us (players). Juve is out of Scamacca race and can Milan compete with us?

We need to remember Marotta and Carnevali has been talking for 1,5 years, probably semi-constantly.
