I was reading first pages of this thread, people thought this guy is second coming of Sneijder lol

People had fallen for the hype from Frattesi performances with Italy. They even expected him to be a starter from the get go. Some of us had warned the guy isn't that good and he certainly wasn't worth the money we spent for him.

When he signed I think the management had in mind that he could replace Miki rather than Barella anyway. Inzaghi tried that combo a couple of times in the autumn of 2023 and it was evidently such a poor fit that we have never seen it again, just one a few occasions late in the game after subs. The odd thing is when he was at Sassuolo I remember him being really involved, certainly in games against Inter at least, and how we were unsettled by his direct running.

18 months is enough time to make an assessment on how he has progressed and he is no better a footballer than he was when he came. It's the manner in which the game goes on around him that I can't reconcile. Glad to see the back of him and it would take 10-111 million euros off our annual player costs.

Because with the way Inzaghi setting up, midfielders have to cover more space and drop down lower when CBs moving up into open space, it takes a lot more stamina and awareness. He’s good at final third but the rest is nothing special.

Good post. After seeing him at Sassuolo i was convinced he'd really push and develop with us but he hasnt at all. He looks confused and doesnt seem able to do what is asked of him. If we're offered the money we want then let him go.

Don't have one.

It's not just performances with italy he was great in sassuollo shirt as well. He was close to barella-cagliari hype around him, and he really did look like the next big thing. But it is what it is, he turned out to be a completely niche midfielder when in reality we needed someone much more complete.

I think we just made a mistake in evaluation thinking he is the right profile for what we need, not necessarily about his quality. He is easily worth the money we paid for a team like roma imo and i m sure he will show it if the transfer happens. One thing that is not happening though is him becoming a world-class midfielder or having bigger potential than someone like barella or zielinski. That shit is never gonna happen with his set of skills and the current age.

Buying him wasn't a mistake, as he was very promising and it was worth the investment. He just doesn't click well for us, but since we bought him at the right age, we can still sell him on a high price, recovering the money spent and making some profit for FFE meanwhile.

I've just been remining myself of his last Sassuolo season. They played most of the campaign in a 4-3-3 formation and Frattesi would play as the left sided of the two more advanced midfielders, ahead of Maxine Lopez and alongside Mattheus Enrique or Kristian Thorstvedt. So sort of where Miki plays now. It's needed him to adapt to a different formation, but the midfield trio part is hardly new for him.

He had the 7th most touches over the season and the second highest in midfield after the anchor Maxine Lopez. All his creative and attacking stats are among the best in the squad and, most unusually, he won more tackles than any other player - 63, which is 50% more than any teammate. Weird. He had the third highest minutes played over the season so perhaps it is just a case of him needing more regular football. Perhaps.

Totally agree. A very good player, especially for a club like Inter, fighting above it's weight financially. He just doesn't fit, no way this signing was a miss football wise, so to speak.

I think it has to do more with him not being able to adapt to team movement and link up to team mates. He never really gave the impression that he cant make a pass, he simply is never available.

If Napoli have any sense they’ll take 40mil from the Kvara sale and immediately throw it down for Frattesi. Dude strikes me as such a Conte player.
The price Inter set for Napoli and gobbi is €70 mil.

Frattesi was always second opinion for Limone. Think it was pretty clear even then that if we could pay straight cash and didn't need a loan +obligation+ mullateri deal that Inzaghi would have insisted on sms.

I can't know any better than our management but selling him for rumored price is the best idea for both parties. He needs a new challenge, and Inter needs an adequate backup in midfield. Frattesi doesn't offer what Inter needs. Bring an adequate backup for Hakan, and play Asllani further up. The latter can't play as regista as of now, way too reckless though.

Hopefully tonight's match will open eyes to our directors. This shit can't last like this.

We will have Hakan and Mkhi back soon, but they might eventually get injured or have suspensions again, and we can't rely at current options. It's not working, simple as that.

I'd like to see him as our third striker, he would bury Taremi's chances I'm sure.
