Not Maldini as we wont be seeing another Maldini for sure (At least in the near future). If he becomes regular for Newcastle then I will consider his move as a success as he can climb ladder slowly from there.

I hope he does because he is a good guy. But I'm happy with the 6m we got as maybe in Jan/June next year(after a year in the stands or on the bench) we might have got a fraction of that.

Ajax Chivu was a hell of a player.

Back on the topic of Santon, It's just that Santon is a promising Italian Full Back and ofc he would be hyped as it has been a while since someone showing potential as much as him showed up.

I don't think he will come close to the media expectations, but he will certainly develop into a good player and be Italy's starter by 2014 WC

Only for part of his roma career and mostly when samuel was partnering him and capello was managing them. After that he declined terribly. He has a lot of blame in the 7 goals they conceded vs man utd in the cl, just to mention one game...

Well the problem is that chivu was a good cb at Roma and Ajax and thats also he s natural position so there is no point in bringing santon to the equation.
Anyway even if lb is not his best position he imho still was better then santon in the last two seasons.

Pls explain to me which goals were chivus fault in that game? despite being played out of position he has been stellar for us up until his accident. Theres a reason why every coach would pick him over santon in that LB position. its just too bad that you cannot see it, but as long as the ppl who know what their talking about and doing do.....IM HAPPY WITH THAT! The fact is that chivu HAS ALWAYS been good enough to bench santon...so i really dont know what youre talking about. If you have any facts to back up your statement, then id like to see it. But mancio, Jose, Rafa, Leo, and now even Gasp all see it others wise. But yes im sure you know better then them and what you say really makes a difference. Barton Vs Newcastle
Obertan, Santon, Cabaye, Ba. They have got good set of players. Will be good to see if Obertan and Santon play on the same side. Will be interesting to see how they combine, Obertan's work rate is piss poor, Santon will be exposed a lot. Maybe Jonas will play as RW to provide support.
