Hell never get the respect he deserves. A genuine top 5-10 RB/RWB on the planet. Assuming Hakimi won’t be back again I’m so happy to have him. Darmian is a nice backup but at this stage Dumfries is simply better than him and should be our starter.
There aren't enough 10 big teams with wingbacks lmao.

This guy sends me on an emotional rollercoaster. It changes with nearly every other match, sometimes it's hey he's playing fantastic, then the next match it's "what the hell?" Definitely a very enigmatic player.

Don't have one.
He also gave his first interview in italian last night, if i m not mistaken. Must have been part of the contract negotiations. Either way, good to see.

In terms of this particular contract renewal, if ever was a situation where both sides couldn't make a single move to outmaneuver each other and get on top, it was this, hence this contract edging session which lasted for months.

I like the dude but I would've liked him more as our bench option, not our starter.

But we do need a new, younger CB more than a RWB variant of Dimarco, so I don't mind this at all.

Since he joined, he has improved in tactical understanding for Inzaghi's system, but other than that I was hoping he gets really good at either one of the items and he will be considered a top club RB/RWB: crossings, dribbling, finishing (this includes headers); he just needs to master one of them and he will be a monster, but he has not even gotten Italian figure out, so I guess I am expecting too much.

We have Buchanan but he will get his chance only if Dumfries and Darmian are missing. Inzaghi obviously doesnt trust him.

I really like him, I'm glad he renewed and hope that we see more of him and less of Darmian.

There are players I'd feel odd seeing playing for other clubs.
For some reason in my mind Dumfries became one of those.

Realistically speaking, Inter is his peak. Sure he could probably go to Aston Villa or Newcastle for more money, but his lack of technical ability means he’ll never be a priority for a United, Liverpool, Atletico, PSG, etc.

Starter at the best team in Italy, in a system that suits him, with a fan base that likes him. I’m not surprised he signed an extension, and he remains a walking plusvalenza for us should he garner interest. Win-win-win all round here.

I even doubt those clubs would have offered him more money. They probably offered him less (or around the same but I doubt it) so he didn't move anywhere.

Dumfries spoke to InterTV after confirming his new deal with the Nerazzurri until the end of June 2028. He also talked about his desire to improve his consistency.
Denzel Dumfries Happy With “Special” Contract Extension: “I Love Inter”

“It’s a very special moment for me,” the Dutchman said. “I arrived here three years ago, and now I’ve earned a new contract.”

“These have been three wonderful years,” Dumfries said.

“I’m very proud to continue my journey with Inter.”

“These three years have been fantastic,” Dumfries said. “Particularly winning the Scudetto last season.”

“That was a very special moment, and very emotional for everyone.”

“We worked hard to get there,” Dumfries said of Inter’s Serie A title triumph.

“Overall, the last three years have been full of emotion. I feel at home here and I’m very happy to move forward with Inter.”

“I came here three years ago after the Euros and the time I’d been at PSV,” Dumfries looked back.

“I’ve grown a lot as a player, and as a person.”

“I’m very happy that Inter gave me this opportunity, and that we’re growing together.”
Keep growing
Dumfries Credits Inzaghi For Improvements, Hopes To Become More Consistent

Dumfries noted that Inter “I’ve matured a lot as a player.”

“I’ve developed, and made the kind of football played in Italy my own,” the 28-year-old said.

“I’ve improved a lot, thanks to the coaching staff and to my coach Inzaghi,” Dumfries said. “They’ve made it possible for me to continually improve as a footballer.”

As far as where he feels that he still has more work to do, Dumfries said that “I’d like to become more consistent.”

“I want to be as reliable as possible on the pitch,” the Dutchman insisted.

“I’ve been working hard from day one. And I’m already very happy with my growth.”

“There have been a lot of improvements every day,” Dumfries said. “And I work hard every day to further improve myself.”
Now that he's on pair with DiMarco, the expectations from Denzel grow further.

Inter Want To Win The Champions League, Says Dumfries

For this season, Dumfries isn’t hiding Inter’s ambitions. “Against Leipzig we brought home another big Champions League win,” he noted.
“For us winning the Champions League is one of our goals,” the 28-year-old made clear. “As is winning the league.”

“In general we want to win every trophy on offer, and be competitive in each match and competition.”

“Those are the goals we’ve set for ourselves as a team,” Dumfries declared.

And then Dumfries closed with a message for the Inter supporters. “I want to thank the Nerazzurri fans,” he said.

“From my first day here they’ve really made me feel at home,” the Dutchman continued.

“I hope that I can share more beautiful moments with you all,” Dumfries said. “And that there are many more chances to do so.”
Good luck reaching the objectives

Dumfries doesn't get any better IMO. He is not a bad player, but he's too limited in some aspects. For example he's lack of intelligence is letting him down big time, but at the same time his tenacity is giving him an advantage and despite of mistakes, he'll pull a comeback and redeem himself.

He's a moody player though. Once he is on his day, he can be very productive, but once he's having a day off, he tends to ruin most of team's play and give the ball away easily.

I've grown to live with it. Our left side has more technically gifted players, while our right side is more of hard workers and tactically better ones if I could say.
