If Darmian had a game like that you would be all over him, but this forum loves its overrated foreign players
I don't think that somebody here was overrating Dumfries. Most common opinion was that his is good purshace for 15mln and I'm fully agree. Darmian looks slightly better defensively for now but Dumfries offers more in attack. Maybe both of them will struggle in important games like Shakhtar's one but beggars are not choosers.

And even that it's more about the rest of the team than like Dumfries per se why he's struggling. He's not a defensive WB by definition so if the team plays without the ball so much (60-40 possession stats) it's not gonna be easy for him ever.

Honestly, I don't see how is this guy an upgrade on Lazaro. For what he brings we could've easily kept Lazaro and saved 15m.

I don't see him benching Darmian at all. Other than pace and physicality, Darmian is the better player.

Welcome to Inter. We love to buy and sell constantly even if it does make sense at all.

Darmian is the more effective player when it comes to timing his run. This is the same attribute as Vecino. But it doesn't mean we should start them all the time.

Dumfries offers more energy on the field. His run and crosses might not be clinical yet. But every time he plays, he drags the opponents' defence to his side and frees up enormous space for Perisic/Dimarco and even Bastoni. Did you notice we had much more diagonal pass whenever Dumfries play?

This is not a zero sum game. We still play almost 3x a week. When our opponent has a speedy left winger or park the bus, it'd be more effective to start Dumfries and sub-in Darmian in the 70" mark. Otherwise I'm all cool with Darmian starting other games.

He doesn’t defend. In todays game there were times where Boga would be 1v1 with Skriniar and he was nowhere to be seen jogging back from the opponents half. His lack of urgency in defending is alarming. Thankfully he was very cheap. I don’t know how much he can improve at this point but Inzaghi needs to do a lot of work on this guy.

Yeah I expected a bit more energy from him. He hasn’t been playing a ton so maybe that will improve. However he needs to get up and down more frequently in that role and with more speed in transition. Also he uses his body well sometimes but then takes to long to release the ball. It’s still early days though.

Agreed, but let's give some credit to Boga, for his quickness, all he lacks is a consistent shot and being a little less myopic.

Unfortunately this guy football intelligence seems very low, he have nice physical and speed abilities, but he never use that for his advantage correctly..

So we basically need someone who runs nonstop regardless of how efficient those runs are!

I totally disagree with to be honest. Just take a look at last night game, I'm sure I saw Darmian make 3 effective tackles on Boga in those 30 min he played. In contrast what did Dumfries do in the previous 60?

Darmian showed the difference in class between them in those 30 min imho.

A fresh legged Darmian? Maybe Dumbfried wore Boga out. Dmbfried has a way to go, doesn't help that our core players are just as confused and lost. Lets give him time. Hakimi was just as useless but I saw him put on a defensive masterclass vs City/Grealish.

It's weird he was captain at PSV. So easily triggered. Disgusting behavior after Lazio's second goal.

he's not yet finished. he still can improve and adapt since it's his first season in Italy. i would wait until the end of this season to asses him more properly.
