Many many mistakes, they had few dangerous attacks cause he lost ball like total amateur. He's hard worker thats true, but we need more than that.

Feel bad for this guy. Has a solid second half with a great assist and he still gets shit on. Meanwhile there were countless games last year where Hakimi played like complete shit and nabbed one G/A and was hailed as the savior on here. I also don't like how Barella is ignoring him but I suppose it's Nico and you can't fault him.
There were games, where Hakimi was shit but definitely not countless.
Darmina was the bench of Hakimi, and now Dumfries is benched by Darmian. So, please do not compare him to Hakimi because he is levels behind.

I'm not comparing the two. Hakimi is arguably the best wingback on planet earth. But the reality is there are players on this forum whom people are way too hard on and there are players who never get criticized. Could you imagine if Dumfries missed a penalty in the dying moments or sat on the ground faking an injury that directly led to a loss the way DiMarco has done? This forum would have an absolute meltdown. People need to get off this dudes back and stop micromanaging everything he does. He is not hakimi, if you micromanage everything he does you're going to be disappointed. He has some talent, he was decent today why on earth are people on here bitching about how shit he is? I don't anticipate he'll become great here, but he wasn't bought for that to begin with.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

He's worlds away from Hakimi, and we knew this up front. Acting surprised when he's not Hakimi... that's on you.

Lmao Noone here expected him to be Hakimi. If you watched the games you'd know he's a donkey who has a low footballing IQ with 0 decision making skills.

Comparing him to DiMarco is a joke tbh, DiMarco offers so much more going forward and his set pieces taking skills

Nobody expects him like Hakimi. Most of us already set our expectation low and I personally expect he would be at Candreva or Zappacosta level. After watching him several times, I give up such hope and pray that Darmian is not injured at important fixtures.

Watching Dumfries possessing the ball is a flashback on Lukaku because both of them really lack basic football technique. The problem is the latter has extraordinary qualities to offset his weakness. Who needs cushioned touches if you can bulldoze your way to the goal? Dumfries, on the other hand, is not superiorly ahead in his physically or in other aspects. I don't think he will last long as a WB and he will be our backup CB based on his skillset. That is under condition if he manages to improve defensively.

For now, Dumfries is our emergency bandaid to the gaping inflamed rotting wound called RWB. We can only hope he doesn't commit more grave mistakes ahead before we are into another perpetual search of full/wingback.

He's doing the job of a 12m Euro signing on a low wage.

Agree that people should give the guy a break, I personally really like the guy though he has my vote.

Great how Ranocchia and specially Perisic congratulated and encouraged Dumfries after that second goal. That pass was great. I don't know was it luck it ended up being so perfect but at least he tried that backwards diagonal pass and not the usual low cross to the goal as there were tons of people in between.

Team probably sees how he's struggling so it's imperative his team mates gets the vibe and do these things like Rano and Perisic did. Inzaghi's words were also golden and will only boosts this guy's confidence.

You could sign players for 500k that could do a similar job. That's the problem.

Let's hope all he needs is to settle, but thus far he's underwhelming and it looks to be a talent thing rather than an adaptability issue.

Some players take longer to adapt then others. I just don’t understand why we didn’t give similar chances to Lazaro for example who honestly wasn’t any worse then Dumfries in his first appearances. I guess that’s just the difference between Conte and Inzaghi. Conte is not forgiving.

What worried me about yesterday’s performance was I could actually see that he was low on confidence. So far his mentality has been what he’s been lauded for. If he loses that then there just isn’t that much left there. He needs to understand where to pass when he receives the ball near the touch line facing our goal. He turned the ball over twice in that scenario and it gave me shades of Kondogbia.

Anyways it’s still early. Hopefully he will rebound. Darmian is great and all but he really can’t be our starter.

It's definitely early stages. And those kind of assists will be good for his confidence. They should really actually try more of those as Dumfries doesn't seem to get low regular crosses in too well, just like Hakimi.

Slightly better performance today against a toothless Sheriff. But he still has issues on positioning. A couple of times after losing the ball in the box, he'll just stand there while Dzeko is already running back. Not acceptable considering he used to be a CB before.

He is mid table Serie A level, not top team material.

Our left side is more dangerous than right side this year, slightly different than last year when we had Hakimi.

This year, Perisic is one of the most dangerous player in our flank.

We should try playing him as RCB, just like Inzaghi uses Dimarco instead of Basto when we need our CBs to play higher. I really don't see him as RWB whatsoever.

One great tackle, other than that I spotted him being out off position many times.

He is not ready, clearly still adapting Serie A and his new RWB role.
The only option for him is start against low table club and develop his play.
Not same level as Hakimi and Cancelo. Even Moses better than him.

But I predict he will big on the second half this season. Why? Because his main strength is hardwork.
