I don't think Vidic was a flop he came to an unstable club and he was injury prone.

Anyway, could we please stop being negative about fucking Godin and just wait for him to play for us before judging him when I saw him yesterday, he's still playing at a top level why should that change in a 6 months? Some of you must be really fun at office parties:

"Hey have a drink."
"No, it's gonna suck, I had one three years ago and it was bad."
"But shouldn't you taste it?"
"No it sucks, you're a drink fan boy."

Vidic in his prime was absolutely world class both technique and mentality wise. He came to Inter after injuries when he was on a downward spiral.

You also can't fault the fans for being wary of signing more 30+ year old players because it's hardly working out for us. When we buy young talent we don't develop them, when we get old and proven players it's always in that sweet spot moment when they start underperforming.... it's a perpetual catch 22 with Inter. We like good bargains and we like paying relatively cheap money for talent. Until that changes and until we are ready and able to drop serious cash on players who are top tier in their respective positions right now, players who are 25-27 years old, we won't manage to do shit.

I have no opinion on Godin whatsoever for what its worth. However I do feel that it would be pretty ridiculous to risk a very promising partnership of De Vrij and Skriniar, a CB back line that could serve us well for literally the next 10 years, just so we can promise Godin first team football. Let's not fix what ain't broken.

Wait people here actually under rate Vidic in his prime. This must be the only place on the internet where the opinion of the premier league is so obviously bias in the other direction

Milan and juve pay big money just for bonucci.

Are we questioning godin value? We are lucky godin wanted to sign with us. He's a key defensive player for atletico madrid and uruguay and we are talking about him regressing in performances?

Vidić was a very good player in his prime, anybody not agreeing with that statement is just purposefully trolling.

I don't see anyone saying that Vidic wasn't a great player. The discussion is whether Vidic-Ferdinand were "one of the best duos in world football history", which is an absurd statement since it is probably not even a top 10 CB duo since the 2000s.

You tell me out of these who were inferior in the last two decades.

Nesta-Stam (Milan)
Samuel-Lucio (Inter)
Samuel-Chivu (Roma)
Ayala-Pellegrino (Valencia)
Thuram-Cannavaro (Juventus)
Chiellini-Bonucci(+Barzagli) (Juventus)
Godin-Gimenez (Atletico)
Sergio Ramos-Varane (Real Madrid)
Puyol-Marquez (Barcelona)
Carvalho-Terry (Chelsea)
Nesta-Maldini (Milan)
Puyol-Pique (Barcelona)
Lucio-Nowotny (Leverkusen)
Nesta-Mihaljovic (Lazio)
Samuel-Materazzi (Inter)
Godin-Miranda (Atletico)

I could add the years now but I can't be bothered to be nitpicked about missing a year or two.

Purposefully trolling is saying that something was said which was not. So please, direct quotes of people saying that Vidic was not a very good player in his prime.

Okay, now you are grasping at straws really. Go look up what Nesta and Miha won together, and then go check what Vidic and Rio won together.

Actually, go look up what all of those pairs won and compare. Mind you, I'm not biased about Vidic at all, he continuously underperformed for our NT. But some of this is just laughable.

so there is 0 risk in bringing Godin? I dont know 4.5m is our highest salary in Inter now, bringing in him in at 4.5m where CB is the least of our concern is not that smart imo.

There's more upside than downside for this signing. The defense can be upgraded, more CL experiences, real threath on corners. If we wanted to challennge in CL and serie A, signing him improve our chances. He's a winner. And he could similarly rejuvenate winning and fighting mentality to the team.

How long were Chivu and Samuel together at Roma? 5 minutes?

Samuel and Materazzi never really played together it was more Cordoba + one of them. Materazzi started in 2006/07 had a great season scoring 10 goals.
