According to the Corriere dello Sport, Inter have already submitted Diego Godin’s contract to the league offices in Rosellini.

“Inter respected the rules: they informed Atletico Madrid about the negotiation and reached an agreement with Godin for three-year deal. They then allowed him to have medical visits abroad as it happened last year with De Vrij and Asamoah. Godin will make €5.2M plus image rights for the total of just less than €6M plus bonuses linked to Champions League qualification and other victories. The commissions will be closer to that of Asamoah which was about €2.3M.”

This signing is giving me Vidic flashbacks and I don't like it

He did decline in the past two years. Is still one of la ligas top defenders tho. I dont like the contract we gave him, but he will be valuable player to have, thats for sure.

Godin is one the best CB i've ever seen, in his great years he was almost perfect. I agree he's not at his top anymore, but he's still a very good CB, and can be an important part of our squad for the next 2-3 years.

Godin is coming on a free transfer. Even if we are paying him 6.5m net per year, thats just €26m over two years in TOTAL cost. A world class, experienced defender for that amount is always a good deal. Even if we play 2 CBs next season, Godin is unlikely to start twice a week at this age. So De Vrij will be used a lot in rotation. And Skriniar and De Vrij can learn a lot from Godin, just like I am sure they did from Miranda.

Its a smart move, if only Inter's could replicated our CB strategy for other positions we would be challenging for the scudetto.

Let's say he earns 6m. Add the 1,5m we pay Ranocchia and that's 7,5m net we pay for out CBs on the bench. I know we need at least a good 3rd CB but at this price ...

I'm with ForzaNerazzurro. This is sooo ... Vidic. If not in the next season then in the following ...

We don't pay 6m for Godin as a sub. De Vrij is not better than him.

Btw, 4 CBs is just enough for back4 formation. With Conte, we even need at least 1 more.

Juve pays 8m net for their CB benchers.

I like the Vrij but at the moment, I think, Godin is still the better defender. + maybe our next Coach is Conte who plays with 3 CBs.

Normally considering his age, he has like 2-3 good years left in him. Vidic was bad but could have turned out great too

Are we going to sign him after the tax rule change? if it is the case his cost is going to be around 13M-15M 2 years
