At least it's not Santa Venera Lightnings.

So what's the normal procedure when a team moves? Do the fans move as well or do they wait for someone to fill the void? It's all so foreign.
They protest, they lose, they wait.

You're the market, they're the product. You can't shovel out $400 Million for a new stadium? Fuck you, they're going to a town that can.

Your club is the first in league history? Fuck you, you don't have a magical checkbook with a magical $400 Million to magically build a new stadium.

There's no winning in America sports, for the fans. It's far too corporate, and the closed league structure kills any hope for a city to found its own club to launch up. Wimbledon FC left Wimbledon for Milton Keynes and the Wimbledon residents made a new club, launched it to the 3rd tier. That hasn't happened in the US since probably the mid 1800s. It's retarded.

the country is very big, what you guys need imho is regional leagues in a new league: that would strengthen the link of the clubs with the territory. i mean, there must be someone interested in such a project.

soccer/football will probably never be a mainstream sport in the u.s. but the fan base is still relatively big. i think many people would love to have their local club in a structured league

I mean, technically, conferences are regional leagues.

NFL and MLB are structured the way you describe, where each team is placed in one of two organizations and within them they're divided into North, South, East or West.
NBA has it simpler where it's just Eastern and Western Conference.
Seems to work for the three sports.

Despite some major historical American franchises having been relocated at some point in their existence (Yankees, Lakers, SF Giants), their current fanbases are still very deep-rooted in their respective cities, spanning generations.

So it's not entirely impossible to hope the same for MLS clubs. Just need to remember that the majority of these clubs were founded just a little over 20 years ago.

I just can't imagine being an insanely die-hard supporter of a local club (where my dad, granddad and great granddad were too) and suddenly finding out they're moving to a different region altogether. Truly poisonous aspect of American sports in general.

---

To expand on what America said about the closed league structure, it's shame that American sports fans would never get to experience something as amazing as what Leipzig fans got to see with RB Leipzig.

US sports are all about the "product". They want to keep the standard in control and avoid Beneventos from existing in their leagues. The down side is the Draft system and lack of youth academies which basically means that a mid tier team can decide to pull a Benevento just to enhance their chances at an upcoming prodigy. It's also a huge mass of land so it's hard to use a European structure.

The whole system needs an overhaul if they don't want to be isolated. Even China can attract better talent now and no one outside of it speaks Mandarin or Cantonese whereas everyone speaks English and everyone's idea of the language is far closer to the American idiom than the British. And no one can argue 'lack of money' in US sports. So yeah, someone's not living up to his potential here.

In Serbia it is all about Partizan Belgrade and Red Star Belgrade but since I'm not from Belgrade but from the province I really dont care. There is also lot of politics involved so it is not much about football. So Inter and only Inter for me!

My "local" teams are Manchester United and Manchester City and i support neither. In fact, i would rather Liverpool win the league over the two. I don't mind Manchester City that much but my god, Manchester United fans are really arrogant.

Interesting! I was born old Trafford, still live in Manchester and I support neither of the Manchester teams. Also share the same sentiment, Man U fans are of the most arrogant I've come across. Very off putting.

I support Esteghlal FC in Iran and obviously its not better than Inter at all. If both play together I'll prefer to stay neutral :D
Maybe It seems weird but beside Inter I support Real Madrid as well.

Yes I do. Of course, it is different from supporting Inter, but it has its own charm, like having the stadium within walk distance, knowing the faces from the stands etc.

In my country I support Ajax, I had season tickets from 2002-2014. But this was purely because my father is an Ajax supporter, he took me to matches. My mother is Turkish and for that reason I also supported my grandfather's team, Galatasaray.

However, none of these clubs compare to Inter, I remember falling in love with the black and blue colours around 2002. When I attended the Champions League match between Ajax and Inter in 2006 (2-2), I was rooting for the Nerazurri.

Fans. Duh!
If I have to choose between Hajduk and Inter I would choose Hajduk. No insult intended.
