Chill people. If anything, this will only convince the management to win the race for Scamacca. Or even better, splash out for Vlahovic.

Getting Lukaku back yes. But what’s the long term plan really?

Pinamonti? Football is a game of 11 people, not 12. If we start Pina that means we’ll have to sacrifice one of Correa/Alexis/Dzeko. With Lautaro being a centre forward style of player, I don’t see how a Lautaro-Pinamonti combination would work.

The only conclusion of this discussion is that we have wasted €30M on Correa. Pretty unforgivable since Inzaghi knows him well. Had we gone for Belotti… (which everyone ridiculed me for)

Belotti doesn't play this season at all due to injuries, so he would be even bigger waste than Correa. But yep, it's getting look worse and worse when it comes to Correa. He cannot adjust to our gameplay which is strange because he was coached by Inzaghi.

1 goal in the last 11 serie a matches.... They better not think this guy will be a starter next season. Time to get a starter that can actually finish, cause both him and Lautaro just miss way too many chances.

What happened to him? Is he gassed out already lol? What a shame. He was outstanding at the beginning. I hope he could bounce back.

As others have pointed out, this is nothing new. Dzeko's finishing has been wildly inconsistent for the better part of 5-6 years and he was notorious at Roma for some truly unbelievable misses.

As far as I'm concerned, he was already significantly over the hill 2 years ago. While his experience and ability to facilitate teammates can be useful, his finishing and sharpness have steeply declined.

We did well to extract some good performances from him in the early part of the season. Some of that I suspect was down to the excitement and "honeymoon period" of joining a new club etc. but we simply used him too much and now he's already burned out.

For that I blame:

1) bad luck with Correa being injured at very inopportune moments

2) Lautaro for not stepping up to the plate as a leader of the attack - as poor as Dzeko is now, he provided a much better reference point for our offense than Lautaro who also had a long dry spell

3) Inzaghi for overusing Dzeko - even taking into account the first two points, I feel there were many moments Dzeko could've been subbed off much earlier (like yesterday) or didn't need to start at all (like yesterday)

For me, Lautaro is not a #9. He's a "9-and-a-half" who has no reliable #9 to work with. Dzeko is old and shit. Sanchez and Correa are not #9's either. Lacking such a forward exposes Lautaro who is unable to spearhead the offense with the same impact as Lukaku, at least in this setup. I don't think Lautaro is even that mold of striker to begin with but that's another topic all together.

How much money do we get if we are champions? Correa scored goals that have us top of the league. I didn’t want him either but as long as we are champions this season we need to cut our losses on a lot of players.

For Dzeko I hate Roma more than any other team. They always fk us!! Fk is hard anally with 0 lube…

Yet our own ship keeps doing business with them. Dzeko has been better than I thought he be but still not good enough for the wages he is being paid.

I think Belotti is even worse. I mean yea he might offer something different to the game, but he is even on a lower level than any of our current strikers.
Also I am actually very against getting Lukaku back. We pretty much improved our gameplay cause he left us.
Correa, he actually got us a few points that we would've dropped if it wasn't for him, I know he is useless most of the time, but I think it is just the matter of time that he will click in with the team. He gives of different vibes than Quaresma, Mancini and the other flops; he is more like confused how to apply himself in this team, rather than straight out he is unable to play at this level. I think it is easier to see when you still see he has shining moments, but a lot of hesitation on what to do next, except when he gets to lead the play.

Dzeko problem is too slow for playing Limone ball. Lack of pace to receive passing from his teammates.

Inter Assistant Coach Massimiliano Farris: “Edin Dzeko Only Lacked A Bit Of Luck Against Atalanta

inter assistant coach Massimiliano Farris feels that striker Edin Dzeko was unfortunate in front of goal against Atalanta despite putting in a solid shift.

Speaking in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, Farris stated that he was not unhappy with how the Bosnian performed in spite of missed chances to put the Nerazzurri ahead.

Inter had to share the points with La Dei in a match which saw both teams create a few presentable chances to score, but neither manage to find the back of the net either due to good goalkeeper or poor finishing.

In the case of Nerazzurri striker Dzeko, the 35-year-old found himself on the end of some good chances especially in the air, but was not able to get the decisive contact to break the deadlock and deliver his team all three points.

In spite of this, Farris was not too displeased with how the striker played across his time on the pitch.

“The decisive ball, in my view, could have been Barella’s cross, from Dumfries’s side,” he said. “I think he met it with the determination of the great striker that he is. Probably the only thing lacking was a little bit of luck, because Edin is a striker who connects and finishes.”

He emphasized that “Our attacking options are all of very high quality, and they have brought us to where we are along with the rest of the team.”

Of the overall performance he stated that “We made very few mistakes, especially because making mistakes against Atalanta is always a risk, in fact one of their best chances came from an error by us, and also from their excellent pressure.”

“Our buildup gave us some good chances,” he went on. “A few opportunities come to mind – Edin’s header, D’Ambrosio’s last shot, Musso’s great save on Nino Sancez.”

He concluded that “In summary, we had opportunities that we missed but we also did not well not to concede a goal.”

agreed with Farris, i think he was decent vs Atalanta, being mobile and adding fluidity up front. He showed perseverance and resilience and didn't stop trying.
He just can't find his luck.

Chill, everybody. This is not the first season when our forwards dropped into a slump midwinter, ever since the 2010 season, that shit been happening.

While I'm not happy with the forward options we have, they did better than expected so far this season. Except maybe Lautaro, but I think he'll get better the further the season goes.

We all know Džeko should leave or become our fourth/fifth option off the bench for the next season.. but what we get is hoping he'll score some wondergoal (like in CL) to make Inzaghi decisions make sense.

So chill. Right now we can't do anything to solve this problem but weathering the storm and let's hope this summer will transform our team into a superteam.

Džeko able to score against a set defence if he just stays in the box? You don't say!

Fucking finally, this is how he should be used. This was a hard game and Inzaghi's gamble paid off.

Dzeko kinda reminds me of Cambiasso during his late years with Inter, intelligent enough to be in the right spot at the right time, but the body is starting to slow them down to complete the job. For Dezko, I think at least he can get back to his early season form with enough rest or regrouping his mind, whatever he needs.

I agree with all the points of Universe about Dzeko, except Lautaro is a #9 to me, just not a target man like Lukaku. I think Dzeko is part of the reason why Lautaro is not performing the best.

Dzeko facilitates the whole team, except Lautaro. To elaborate that:
At least the way I see it, is Dzeko provides a forward passing point for the team and helps the team in the transition period to move up , also he occasionally makes some goal threating counter plays, and he also drifts to the right spot to "finish" or attempts to, however, in the last action item, he overlaps with Lautaro and crowds up the active space for Lautaro. Just for contrast, if you watch Lautaro plays with Messi or even Lukaku, they will actually leave out the attacking space for Lautaro in lots of the plays, and with Messi, Lautaro even gets to play the Final third ball winning role, like he will get to fight for the forward passing ball, and pin back the d-line, which also lead to space creating that is used by Messi or others for opportunities creations.

In short, I believe Lautaro is a good #9, and can be a world class one, just not the kind you build around as a focal point for the tactics. Like even Shevchenko couldn't be the type you build your attacking plan around with, but I guess Inter fans are just spoiled with 1 vs the other whole team type of strikers, not our fault.

Still I truly wish we can sign another forward with Correa's injured at this point.

I guess that's why he stays on, because no other Inter forward is scoring that header there.

Bravo, great header, though yeah, he's been poor lately.

Agree with pretty much everything said here. Lautaro is a #9, he just happens to be on the shorter side and has a half decent dribble so he gets played as a support striker at times. However it’s not really the best way to utilize him in my opinion.

I really think Inzaghi had plans to gradually switch from Lautaro - Dzeko to Lautaro - Correa over the course of the season. The injuries to Correa and the form of Sanchez have just kind of made that plan go out the window. Right now we are better off when we play either striker next to Sanchez. Dzeko and Lautaro both look uncomfortable when they’re asked to link up. It’s like having two dicks instead of dick and balls.

Also just to be clear I’m not sure how someone like Scamacca fixes this other then hopefully being more clinical then Dzeko. Someone like Dybala would probably actually be a better partner for Lautaro. In my dreams we would sign Joao Felix.
