GdS reports this refusal now too.

So Cavani wasn't a plan B because there was no plan B until this weekend/start of this week. Or hopefully the plan B hasn't come up yet for the press.

I really hope this ends up being a blessing in disguise. Not finding a top striker can lead to all our money being spent on a midfielder. If it's SMS, I'd honestly take even Llorente as a starter. I really want to secure SMS.

I understand this but SMS was pretty average last season and in my opinion it was he who caused Lazio to miss out on the UCL by needlessly and petulantly kicking out and getting sent off at home towards the business end of the season. That Balkan inconsistency and losing the cajones part really worries me and is a trait in a lot of the Balkan players and with the pressure at Inter i am not sure another Balkan player with his temperament is the answer. So i really am 50-50 in this about him at the price thats being touted.

This is really shaping up to be a dog shit mercato

Every time I get frustrated about this:

I just go to Juventuz.com. It is very de-stressing to see them having a Lukaku shaped meltdown.

PSG is not selling this guy, that's the only problem we have completing the deal.

Our plan B is Duvan Zapata with Politano going the other way. If he accepts of course.

I doubt that guy ever was our plan b. The rumours linking Inter with Leao from Italian sources (GdS, CdS) were never confirmed in France.

Hm, I'm pretty interested to see how this season unfolds for lots of players.

Whether Leao is a decent talent, whether De Ligt is the real deal, whether Lukaku will regain his form (wherever he plays), whether Cavani will be healthy and in good form, whether Conte actually can do something with this team, whether Nainggolan will have a good season, whether Zapata continues scoring, etc.

Edinson Cavani shot down reports of a return to Serie A for Inter. “I promised that I’d stay at PSG until the end of my contract. That is certain.”

The Uruguay international was mentioned as an alternative to Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku for the Nerazzurri front line, especially as his contract is due to expire in June 2020.

“I already told the fans and promised to myself that I’d stay at PSG until the end of my contract. That is certain,” 32-year-old Cavani said in an interview with Le Parisien.

“In future, I could decide to go back to Uruguay, but football doesn’t depend only on you, as there is also a club and supporters.

“I am not thinking about a new contract right now, as we haven’t even discussed it. I am relaxed, whether or not I remain after the contract expires.

“The only thing I know is that I’ll continue to give my all for Paris Saint-Germain, as after six years, Paris is my home and my family.”

Can't blame him, what do we even offer, he's living the life in France.

Probably too good to be true, but since we're all missing football, have at it.

It's not gonna happen. Cavani currently earns 12m per season at PSG. I can't see him accepting less than 9-10m and i certainly can't see Inter offering more than 8m.

What specifically makes our situation so unique that we can't afford high wage veterans on a free, but are expected to engage in big money transfers in midfield?
Is inter working with a wage cap?

Unlike you plebs, I've moved on from football to watching dog videos on YouTube.

With 8m€ net, Cavani's cost would be little more than what Mertens would have cost us, because of tax reduction for players coming from abroad. If it's more than that, then it is more but Mertens is off the market, so it's not like there's multiple equal choices to make. Free agents are expensive salary wise, but you have to pay only the signing bonus. With others, there's huge transfer fees involved too which you need to amortize every year.

If Cavani accepts 2 year contract, it's a good deal to book such free agent.

I don't think PSG will keep Cavani. So he's not making 12mil anymore unless Atleti want to pay that much for a 33 year old with their already ridiculous wage bill (they still might).
I think 8mil should be enough to entice him.
