If we were talking about football manager than i would agree with you because pastore really is a great player for now and for the future , but in real life you can't have 2 superstars for the same position.
If you have a budget of X milions do you really want to spend the biggest part of it for a role we are well covered. You can't spend at least 30M for a bench player to substitute sneijder..

Totally Agree

Obviously you didnt get my point, or you think I'm stupid :D.

Pastore is here to start. Not to sit on the bench. I'd like to remind you that its not just about one player that changes, everything depends on who all are going to play and how central/wide does Benitez want his forwards to play.

If we do not get any offensive full backs and we play J.Z./Chivu there we need someone in place of El Cuchu/Motta to move the ball forward to Sneijder/Eto/Pandev/Balotelli/Coutinho. I'm a little biased towards Pastore but I think he can develop into a cross of Xavi/Mascherano and direct play from there. He can also play as a central attack minded mid if Sneijder isnt available. To be more clear he can take over Deki's role in the team. It breaks my heart but Deki is going to get slower as he gets older and we have seen signs of that in the World Cup already.

Instead of signing Mascherano we should look at signing him but again if we sign Kolarov, my view might differ.

Pros:

- Cavani is versatile. He is best as CF, but can also play on the wings and maybe behind lone striker if needed. Cavani's versatility is one of his biggest assets.
- He is 23 years old.
- Despite his age, Cavani has been in Italy since 2006. Three full Serie A seasons as a regular starter, even their mad president Zamparini has fired coaches all the time.
- Cavani really wants Inter. Seems like he refused Wolfsburg and we all know he would get far more important role there. Cavani surely knows that at Inter, he is not automatic starter like he has been at Palermo.

Cons:

- Cavani's rumored price tag is just too much. Something like 15m would be acceptable for me.
- Four names: Milito, Eto'o, Pandev, Balotelli. Cavani would be an investment for the future, but where the hell he would play next season? Benitez is planning 4-2-4 (;))?
- He is a versatile forward but he has also one major weakness; at least in Serie A, he hardly pass the ball. Cavani plays for team, but he is just too selfish with ball at time. (on the other hand, this is area where youngsters usually improve with time).

Just some thoughts.

Yeah, that selfishness aspect is pretty disturbing. It's healthy and natural for a striker to be selfish but IMO Cavani has shown to be stupidly selfish. I haven't seen him playing on the wing other than in World Cup, and frankly, in that competition he's simply sucked out there, other than occasionally tracking back. Offensively he's been almost total zero.

The talked price is just too much.

I also haven't seen him play as winger before this. As a striker he is good, but we have enough and better ones.
As a winger, I am not convinced on him.

I agree, while he hasn't been terrible this world cup he certainly has been setting the world on fire either, playing as a wide forward. Far be it for me to suggest I know better, but instead of going for strikers who make mediocre wing forwards (Kuty, Cavani) how about we actually got for some proper wide players??

I disagree with you guys on cavani's world cup performance. While he hasn't starred his runs have created room for forlan and suarez. Depending on the price I would take him. The fact that he wants inter puts us in a good position.

Inter are racing towards clinching a deal for Palermo hitman Edinson Cavani as they beat Tottenham to the finish line.

Sportmediaset.it claims Inter are close to landing the Uruguay international after wrapping up talks with Palermo, who made it clear they want €23 million to snaction a deal.

The latest developments come just two days after Rosanero chief Maurizio Zamparini claimed Tottenham were eager to buy Cavani and Simon Kjaer for a combined fee of €35m.

However, Rafael Benitez has highlighted Cavani as the ideal man to replace Marko Arnautovic, who moved to Werder Bremen after his loan deal at San Siro expired.

Inter directors are now ready to speak with Cavani's entourage to reach a deal on personal terms, having already convinced Palermo.

I don't have any opinion on Cavani. but i do like the bit about "replacement for Arnautovic"... i.e not being considered as a perfect first team player, more of a way to strengthen the squad for now and future (although an expensive way)
Cavani seems happy to accept a role where he'd start off on the bench and be rotated by Rafa and it'll be up to him to prove himself

Ozil, Silva... these are the perfect players, but I don't think we'd get either. i mean really, who are braca gonna choose between Mata or Ozil? both roughly the same price, they're gonna choose Ozil etc... pastore might be a better option though

Well, I know you talked about the price already but I think we can get forwards able to make room for others cheaper than 20m€. :D And we're not gonna get Cavani for 15m€ or something like that.

I might be wrong , but wasn't Cavani a pro with Head ? High balls ? Since hes quite tall/jumps high or w/e ?

Isn't that what we lack in the attack :D ?
