We have the same points as we did this time last year. We started slowly last year.
No offense intended but I really don’t feel the comparison is legitimate.

I know the point you’re trying to make is that despite a slow start we went on to improve - and that we can do so again.

True, but I don’t think the context is remotely similar. This team is undeniably, inarguably, significantly worse than last season. We’ve lost Eriksen, Lukaku and Hakimi and replaced them with B grade replacements. In the case of Hakimi > Dumfries, a D grade replacement. Most importantly we lost our serial winning coach for a guy who is actually far less qualified than Spalletti was when he took over.

I had hoped that despite these losses, the team would’ve retained that winning mentality after finally overcoming the mental hurdle to become champions. However the evidence is damning. In our 3 games against big clubs, all 3 times we’ve taken the lead only to drop points, earning just 2 out of 9, compared to Milan’s 7/9 against the same teams.

I fully agree.

I'm just trying to stem the tide of inzaghi out already.. Lol

Based on those personnel losses as well I don't think the scudetto should even be our target. Top 4 is our target. Its annoying because milan is trash, but that's the reality unfortunately.

Inzaghi out is a ridicolous statement to make, weak mentality and cry baby mode. 2 losses all season and people are that dramatic.

We can't win Serie A? Above applies again.

without that stupid penalty against Juve and that shame of goal that Lazio scored, we would be -4 from Napoli.
Even better if we would learn to close games, we really gifted 4 points to them, there were enough chances to score the second goal against Lazio and Juve. Some week ago we had the best forward in Europe, only Bayern had more goals. You can't tell me that we can't score more then 1 goal now.

It's still early, but if some players would stop acting like clowns we can win this league again. There is also the mercato in January, don't forget...

anybody suggesting that? I think ppl just evaluating his performance. I am very curious to see how is he going to react - Conte changed his tactics, will he.

I have saw it said a few times however I am merely just voicing an opinion more than discussing the argument.

We must realize Conte last season was his Second season. He already fix what we need fix.
Such as replace Candreva with Hakimi, Biraghi with Perisic and Borja with Vidal.
The season before, Conte fix the hole like Nainggolan, Icardi, and Politano with Barella, Lukaku, and Sanchez. He even get Eriksen, Sensi winter replacement.

All coach, need one season to fix the club or fucking full money at his first season so they can win, because they have a very bad problem need to fix.
Comparing to Conte first season, our problem this year fucking huge. Why? Because we lost the winning team.
The First season Conte on other hand, building winning team from scratch .

Lucky for us, our senior player like Perisic, Dzeko, and Vidal step up this season.
I hope Sanchez step up too this season, but unfortunately Correa is Inzaghi beloved son.

The Eriksen replacement is Vidal not Hakan, for me Hakan more rotational player rather than starter alongside Barella and Brozovic.
The last problem is Dumfries, he is unproven just like Lazaro and Dalbert, comparing him to Hakimi, the best RB in bundesliga is fucking criminal.

The conclusion is we get Spalleti or Pioli transfer this season, not Conte transfer which is only best player can start in his squad.
I hope we not finish like Spalletti or Pioli season, but i am not so positive thinking we finish like Conte season too.

We gotta give some leeway to Inzaghi and this team for fuck sake. Lazio loss was unfortunate and we controlled the match pretty well till the penalty (unlucky pen). Let's not even go to the Juve match, that should have been a win. I totally get why Inzaghi went ape shit, I would have done that too in that spot.

It's as if mentioning that we are at same points as last season means the one doing that mention indicates we will repeat last season. No, we most probably won't get 91 points this season and maybe we don't even win the Scudetto. But so what? It's still pretty good spot to be at the moment given all the hurdles of the summer.

And most probably Scudetto winner doesn't need that many points (91). We'll be fine if we just continue this work we've been doing. Our last two league games have been better and they've been against good sides (Lazio and Juve). Unfortunate, single episodes in those matches just affected the results dramatically. Of course we need some winning streaks to be there in the Scudetto challenge, but it's still early in the season. Expectations needs to be set correctly. If the expectation is repeat-Scudetto with 91 points, then someone is just way off.

I'd like to add even in the Real game we were the better side

Yeah, I think the mentality we all had after we sold hakimi and conte left was probably the most realistic and down to earth one. Something like top 4 is still somewhat safe and for the title we really have to cross our fingers and hope for the best. We all got our hopes up after that first game against genoa, but I think people will slowly but surely come back to real world again. There is no dominating like last year, we just have to hope given the league's quality we are the least shittiest team come may, coz I'm sure napoli and milan will hit rough patches as well.

My brain has had a 4 week or so adjustment period where I've accepted top 4 as the realistic target, with an outside shot at the scudetto.

I'm incredibly reactionary in match threads post losses/draws that shouldn't have happened, but Napoli and Milan won't keep this up unless they're both planning to have 100+ point seasons. We'll have a Jan market where we'll hopefully grab a Dzeko sub, so I'm not tearing my hair out just yet. I was actually quite comforted by the performance against Juve - we were very safe and minimised their threat completely, which we had not been able to do yet this season.

Hopefully a bit of turnover and a relatively easy win tonight - Would like to see people like Sanchez and Correa get involved in goals/assists, Dzeko is bound to end this ridiculous purple patch he's having sooner rather than later.

IIRC Correa has returned to full training since Monday. They're probably trying to be cautious with him since he has missed many trainings and there's no reason to rush him back and risk another injury.

Last time we faced Empoli, it was the final game of 2018-19. We were out of the CL places till the last minutes of this game. Handanovic had one of the games of his life and kept us in the game, and we qualified while Empoli got relegated.

Batman Capitano, we need you to get back to this form.
