Fifa say there not going to take anymore action against Figo for the heatbutt, so he is set to start this match. I don't believe Portugals suspensions are that bad for them, there squad is great and they have enough cover.

I cant wait to see the battle down Englands left hand side. The Coles v Miguel is going to be a very interesting battle and there will be lots of runs and space created.

I would love to see Hargreaves take the place of Lamps, and i would also like to see Beckham play on the left hand side. Then he could cut inside and get more shots on goal. Wont happen though.

I think this is going to be a classic, I have big respect for Portugals national team, and a country as a whole. Mr Big Phil wants to kick SGE arse for the third time in a row in a major competition. I dont think it will be 3rd time lucky, we are so poor at the moment. May the best team win

Easier game for England I'd say. Too much Portugal players banned in this match, they are too weakened. And Ronaldo is injured, maybe he will play, but not at top form. Portugal is also without their playmaker, Deco as you know, because of that I believe England will win.

should be a good game. I believe in Scolari's magic...I expect them to play the usual system, Maniche replacing Deco, Thiago and Petit in defensive midfield, and Figo and Simao on the wings.

I would love to see Nuno Gomes at some point..

Forca Portugal!!!

Portuguese media are saying that C. Ronaldo is recoverable for the game against England, if this comes true then Petit will be in the place of Costinha and Simão in the place of Deco with Simão, C. Ronaldo and Figo changing positions through the game.

England has the advantage in this one, no ban's, no injuries (I think), they only seem to lose in the coach subject, however I'm hoping for a Potuguese team with a lot of will power that will give the English a run for the win.

I hope this to be a good game without any incidents and for the best team to win.

and this somehow confirms that C Ronaldo will most probably feature in the England game. However unfortunately I doubt that their appeal for Deco will be successful.

Deco and Ronaldo could face England

Portugal hopeful over availability of key duo

Last night it seemed as if England would be taking on a Portugal reserve side in the World Cup quarter-final next Saturday. But one by one, like heads in Marty McFly's photo in Back To The Future, the big guns who had been erased are reappearing on Portugal's teamsheet.
This morning Luis Figo was all but cleared to play against England, and now it seems that Cristiano Ronaldo and Deco will take to the field in Gelsenkirchen next Saturday.
Ronaldo limped out of Portugal's 1-0 victory over Holland with a thigh injury after a nasty challenge from Khalid Bouhlarouz, while Deco was sent off for two yellow cards. But Ronaldo could return to light training on Wednesday, and the Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari hopes the Portuguese Football Federation can successfully appeal Deco's one-match ban.

Deco's first yellow card, for a ridiculous hack at Johnny Heitinga, possibly warranted a red card on its own, but the circumstances of the offence - play had been stopped due to an injury with Portugal in possession, but when play restarted Holland launched an attack - has given Scolari hope of an appeal. "The Federation could send a letter to FIFA because of the first yellow card," said Scolari. "The ball was ours, we had possession, but the Dutch player was told by his coach to continue playing. There should be fair-play guidelines from FIFA; the time has come for FIFA to think about this."

If that seems like a flight of fancy, the return of Ronaldo is much more likely. "Ronaldo has just had a scan; he's got muscular swelling in his thigh and we hope that it will ease," said the Portugal team doctor Henrique Jones. "He's having medication and he will have two daily treatments. He could begin to run on Wednesday and train on Thursday or Friday with more intensity. We are hopeful that he will recover."
Ronaldo could resume his duel with Ashley Cole, whom he left with twisted blood at the end of a glorious individual contest in the quarter-final of Euro 2004, in which both players were at the peak of their powers. Or, more probably, he could take up a position on the left and go at one of England's makeshift right-backs - Owen Hargreaves and Jamie Carragher - or Manchester United team-mate Gary Neville, who, if he recovers in time, will be sorely lacking match practice.

Either way, given Ronaldo's love of the big stage, it is a frightening prospect for England. With the suspended Costinha replaced by the equally solid Armando Petit and Deco, if his suspension stands, covered fairly capably by the excellent Tiago, Portugal's side looks nowhere near as weak as had first been hoped.

they are better off with ronaldo, as he is at times way too stupid.

3 in midfield with maniche-petit-thiago and figo-simao from the wings and nuno as a supersub should work better.

Dear England,

This will be the only time I ever support you (along with Euro 2004) I hope you don't disappoint me like last time (Beckham you bastard) and with half of the Portuguese population red carded you better win this one or I will personally go on a killing spree in London. Yes, this is a threat to the Queen.

C...C....*gulp*...:moan: ...C....:moan: ...c'mon England :wallbang:

I'm not really a fan of England, so I'm rooting for Portugal for this match. Portugal probably do have a chance of winning this one, or even pushing it to penalties, where Beckham will probably send another ball to one of those poor fans sitting waay up there in the stadium. But I believe with all the luck the English are getting, they'll squeeze past Portugal.

Ya noticed? Yeah, my dislike for Portugal is similar to Shahz's for England (except I'm less vulgar lol) and my hatred started probably in Euro 2004 when all the Portuguese people in my neighbourhood started thinking they were better than Italy, we broke into fights at the park etc. Especially now when Italy wins a game and we all go parading in little Italy they're always there to bust balls and they usually end up getting beatings.

But ffs if England doesn't win this one then they should just retire from International futbol lol..

A Beckam pearl, A Swedish display of Zlatan. Brasil devine intervention. German flamboyancy, Italian pride. Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, French absurdity. Ecuador!! Argentine fearlessness. Spanish exit.

For me this has been an unforgettable world cup. Regardless of which team will triumph in München this has been a colorful and poetic show.
