Don't think there is Scottish league thread, so posting it here.

Gerrard is the next Rangers manager. Signed 4 year contract.

Ridiculous decision. He'll regret it. Rangers, to my knowledge, have no money and Celtic are light years ahead.

They do, good chance they qualify for the CL stages though they have to go from round 1 and can sell players for decent money, they wont though. Its a horrible job for him though, no idea what will happen in the transfer market, no top level experience and in a high pressure experience. If he makes it a full year i will be astounded

Depends on what you call having money. If you compare them to St. Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Hamilton then they probably do have some. If you're comparing them against Celtic, then that's like saying Luton have money compared to Derby.

Are you a Celtic, Rangers or non Old Firm man?

The promotion playoffs look very drawn out in Scotland, not easy for a team to go up via them I'd imagine. I know Livingston were in the top division for a while but am I right in thinking they are the old Meadowbank Thistle or did that club fold and Livingston Thistle just took their place?

They moved stadium and became Livi FC in '95 and yeah we qualified for europe in 2001. Its basically a play off to keep the teams up. 1st place in championship moves up automatically then the 2nd last team from the SPL enters a mini tournament with 2,3,4 from the first division. Mind you we are the only league i know of which splits the top half and bottom half into two separate leagues half way through the season. Its basically to get more Old Firm/Edinburgh derbies

There's a few leagues with mad setups I think. Belgium springs to mind. I think the Scottish league idea was based on the Swiss one but Switzerland may have changed since.

STATEMENT REGARDING SIR ALEX FERGUSON
Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.

The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery.

His family request privacy in this matter.

We will keep Sir Alex and his loved ones in our thoughts during this time, and we are united in our wish to see him make a comfortable, speedy recovery.

SAF was seriously ill, hopefully he will be back and enjoy his post retirement completely.

The Spurs are Napoli. Napoli are the Spurs. Choke artists, "beautiful" football that can't put themselves over the top. Chelsea are going to catch them

they have also played one match more than tottenham and chelsea.

but yes, now that i have seen the goal differences (much better than chelsea, which are still 3 points behind), i realize that they just need a win.

so let's just say they need one win, be it against brighton or real madrid lol

Very difficult for Chelsea as Liverpool have home game vs Brighton and Spurs have home games vs Newcastle and Leicester.

Chelsea will play Huddersfield at home in the midweek and then Newcastle away on the last day.

At least Sky will have something to hype up on last day.

Relegation is more interesting.

Tuesday it's Swansea vs Southampton with both teams on 33 points. Must win game for Southampton as they have City on the last day, Swansea plays Stoke.

Also if Southampton wins the game, they will go to 36 points which means Huddersfield will be in trouble. Their next 2 games are against Chelsea away and Arsenal at home (wenger's last game).

Huddersfield have worst GD than Swansea and Southampton. If Southampton wins the game they are more or less safe.

Even relegated teams get 100 million and then they will also receive parachute payments (for 3 years I guess).
