Financially desperate teams with good players could be a nice target for saudis in january.
Thankfully for us Newcastle were in shambles under Ashley so it will take Saudis 2-3 years to attract top players. But then they will probably be just another version of City.

My buddy from Newcastle is already dreaming about Conte.

On a serious note, Italian football is more and more fucked. This means we'll become even less attractive for top players than we are now.

At least they are a big club with history.

After selling Martins and Emre to Newcastle, time for another Inter legend for them. Matias Vecino? Or Gagliardini?
They also have a very cool fanbase.

Are they????? If so then the bar for being called a big club is pretty low.

Last time they won the top division was 1927
I thought they won more and more recently, but you're right.

A series of interesting articles regarding the Saudi group buying Newcastle in the Guardian today. The paper says that they could spend around 150M in the next transfer. At least the toon army are happy.

Serious question:

Would you be happy of any consortium took over Inter like Newcastle, PSG and City? They just pump in money buy every player they want and hope they will win a CL. Look at PSG, they act like it's Football Manager and just buy whoever they want. It doesn't matter if they need the player, how big the name is matter to them. They lost connection with the real world and I can imagine with the fans.

Maybe I'm getting old and nostalgic here but I prefer someone like Moratti who really was attached to the club not some rich sheikh who wants to have a toy and whenever he gets tired he sells the club and the club is in big trouble. Would I want Inter to be competitive and have a healthy financial balance? Off course but I wouldn't want to give the club away to someone who doesn't know the club and don't have any emotion towards the club and just see it as a business. I know most of the owners see their club that way but I can't really explain it but it gives me the chills to see more and more clubs getting taking over by consortium's who are only sitting there for themselves and no one else. I guess this is the ''modern football'' way but I still don't like it.

And yes you have exceptions of owners who in time get attached to the club and try to upgrade the Youth Academy and giving back to the community etc, but those are exceptions and not the standard. Just wondering how everyone feels about this.

I recently left Newcastle, lived there for 10 years or so. It makes me laugh because Newcastle is the most racist place I have ever lived and I have lived in a lot of places, the fans are absolute assholes (hitting horses for 1 example) and all they do is whinge about Ashley even though he has consistently put money into the club and kept them in the premiership, when they did go down, straight back up.

For years and years they whinged on about city, chelsea, psg how they are cheats, don't deserve to be in football racist antidote here and there about it..

and here we are...

That would be much better than what we are enduring now. Selling young stars as soon as any profit arrived, signing craps just because they are the cheapest, having Mercato with 0€ budget, or even worse, forcing to raise €100m from selling your blood.

The president is nowhere to be seen on the stand and is appointed as CEO at his main Chinese business. That's how much he cares for the club. How can we remain competitive? No, we can't, we lost the Scudetto right after we touched it. I'd rather see us fighting for trophies in a "boring" way; than being irrelevant and becoming a feeder club for the ones you mentioned above.

Ofc your scenario is optimal, being own by a more-logical-Moratti, but we don't have such choice now. And even if we do have, he can't do shit in Italy when being hindered by the city policy itself, such as stopping our stadium project for 20 years. PIF is the best we can hope.

They can start by signing Sanchez, Vidal and Sensi in January.

I agree with you but sadly the period of Italian sugar daddies is over. Before taking the loan from Oaktree, Inter offered the chance to Leonardo Del Vecchio, a weathy Italian businessman and Interista, the chance to make a 200m investment which could lead to him taking the control of the club in time. He immediately refused. Just look at the owners of the other Italian top clubs.

Inter: Chinese owners
Milan: American owners
Roma: American owners

Napoli have De Laurentiis who has kept the club clean from debts after taking them from Serie C, he has build a good base but he doesn't take the decisive step that will make them fight for titles in consistent basis. Lazio have a greedy owner like Lotito who doesn't give a fuck about the club and only cares about making money. There are only Agnellis at Juventus who are just the last of a dying breed.

Nowadays we have only 3 types of investors in football. Arabs, Russian oligarchs and American funds and we know what to expect from each of them.

The president is nowhere to be seen on the stand

He is expected to return for the Christmas party.

Maybe not a big club, but just like Leeds, they are a club with a nice history, were competitive, the Tottenham of EPL history.

It's gonna be hard to convince great players to come, so I don't expect them to just become Manchester City overnight. I can see us selling them a player, Brozović for 80mil maybe?

I would say they are a big club, trophies don't make you a big club. Leeds is also a great example of a big club, in the UK for sure.

Leeds were in a position of semi-dynasty before Liverpool emerged, even if their trophies won looks underwhelming now.

Newcastle never was this. They were a typical upper half of the table side.

But they were part of the original "big 6" of the Premier League along with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Leeds.

When you consider that there's like 50-60 English clubs out there with some degree of historic relevance, sure, Newcastle is considered big.

Seriously, I hope these fuckers never get close to Inter.
