It's ok to take risks and gambles but only based on your budget. It's not ok to constantly overpay for a bunch of nobodies and get stuck with them forever. We do this way too often with money that we don't have. Other clubs can take it but we can't.

It's one of the reasons why we couldn't keep crucial players like Hakimi, Skriniar and Perisic, while Dalbert and Lazaro are still hanging around the club when it should be the other way around.

But the reason we have Skriniar, Hakimi, Lukaku... in the first place was because we took risks right? They all came with huge costs and could have easily gone wrong too.

Lazaro and Dalbert were young and promising when they first came. Shame they didnt work out but you can wrong the strategy.

You 100% can. Nice fans online were laughing at us when we paid 22M for him. Lazaro didn't even survive half a season at the club. That's a systematic scouting failure.

If this is your idea of taking risks, you're better off throwing darts and seeing which player to buy.

They are both for sure scouting failures on our part, particularly Dalbert. His Youtube highlights aren't even good. Lazaro might have had something to do with the fact we were interested in him even as a youth product and there was some fixation.

Skriniar was a scouting success. Hakimi wasn't a risk as he was already showing high levels of play at Dortmund. Lukaku to an extent was a risk but not in the same way Dalbert and Lazaro were.

Scouting failure + our willingness to overpay are big reasons why we are here. Dalbert, Lazaro, Joao Mario, Gabriel Barbosa, are all great examples of this.

You want to take good risks? Fix the scouting system and start looking elsewhere. We have probably some of the worst scouts in Italy if not all of Europe. The fact that we needed a LB and of all the players in the world to spend 22M on they chose one of the worst is proof of that. You go to France to look for BARGAINS not to splash cash.

I'm pretty sure everyone was laughing at 27m for Skriniar and 80m for Lukaku too. How were they different?

Lazaro and Dalbert were never promising at any stage before their arrival at Inter and numerous doubts were expressed about both players.

In relation to the former, I remember being surprised that we were linked with him. I am not sure if I have this right but being linked to Lazaro was unexpected. Some posters on here expressed doubt that his transfer to Inter would ever amount to anything but many said that if he is the player Conte wanted then we should simply go with it.

Regarding the latter, I remember numerous fans on here looking at YouTube highlighets of Dalbert and saying straight out he was rubbish. Specifically, they referred to the abundance of space he always had in France and said there is now way in hell that he will get that much room in Serie A. They also mentioned the fact that he was a one trick pony, referring to his pace. He was destined to fail here.

The thought that I can not shake in relation to both players is that if posters on here could assess and see how shit they were whilst sitting behind their computers and never seeing them in person, how was it that our scouts somehow managed to miss the Memo? It only really points to one thing: pure and outright scouting incompetence.

the fact inter threw € 24M for Lazaro and € 22M for Dalbert respectively despite Suning being broke since January 2017 make me wonder about this world.

Gabriel Barbosa was a bust, but overall he came to the club at the wrong time and it just didn't click. He obviously is a goal scorer, but the kid did everything wrong at Inter, at Benfica,... And seems to enjoy playing in Brazil the most. Or only there, because he could def start there.

Good thing we later also got Lautaro Martinez and we could get rid of Gabriel Barbosa. Superior player for less money. It's just a shame he didn't at least pan out so we could sell him, because talented he absolutely is.

Huge difference. Skriniar, Hakimi and Lukaku weren't a bunch of nobodies.

I recall very well that Skriniar was pretty damn solid at Sampdoria hence already a proven defender in Serie A. His price was justified. We bought Lukaku and Hakimi from Man Utd and Real Madrid, not from Nice. Enough said. They weren't nobodies. Inter didn't develop them out of nothing. They came here and performed immediately. They just needed to be in the right place.

Dalbert, on the other hand, was fucking mediocre at Nice. He's a good athlete, but that's all about it. Many have seen that he's brainless on the pitch already before he joined Inter, but were hoping that he would learn a thing or two in Serie A and develop. Apparently that didn't happen.

Revisionism, literally just read the first page of Skriniar’s thread. He was an expensive nobody.

95% of this forum was against Lukaku too, dont fucking even try to argue that.

Hakimi was WC so fair enough.

Seems there were mixed feelings about Skri.

Thats why Lukaku costed us 75M€ and Dalbert 20M€.
Hakimi vas 43M€, and it was good price, since he played very well at BD.
Only Škriniar was "nobody" at the moment when he signed for us.

I thought Skriniar was 12 million + 2 scrubs that didn't pan out and that is why it was 30 million. Capraci or some other random striker that probably retired now was like 15 million in that deal. He was promising and was kind of like and Bremer. We hope he could make the jump but was a much bigger gamble than Lukaku or Hakimi when it came to it being a really bad transfer..

Lukaku was a huge bust at Man U. We tried to get a discount and are so shity at negotiating we paid them what they paid for a failure 1-2 months after we asked for him at a big discount. No other team wanted him either. It was his insane transfer people were angry about. He did his job then people are angry he left. He needs to prove himself again this season.

I think people forget or want to gloss over we are a 2nd tier or 3rd tier team. Each tier feeds the other. If we get a player from Real/Bayern its because they aren't world class or failed and a bigger team doesn't want them.

1st Tier is - Real and Bayern

2nd tier is debatable if its part of the 1st or part of the 3rd - Barcelona and maybe Juve (arguably have had better rosters and players are way more likely to agree to this move than Inter or Milan). For EPL I don't rate it highly but Man U has an insane following. Man City and Liverpool because of the coaches they have players want to go.

3rd tier - Inter, Milan, Aletico Madrid, PSG, Chelsea

4th tier - Dortmund, All of the EPL(unlimited pockets they suck but have the money and media hype) Sevilla, Porto , Roma

Bayern is 1st tier only for Germans or Bundesliga players who are settled and don't want to leave the country. City, Liverpool and Barcelona are above Bayern for all the rest.

Chelsea has been 2nd tier for almost 20 years. They had a big enough following in England even before the money, after Mourinho and a bunch of African players they have been the favourite "new" big club for many

Also they have been able to get most of the players they wanted

CdS claims we had an agreement with Nice for a permanent transfer for around 4 million, which would likely make us not lose any plusvalenza.
This was of course before this idiot injured himself.

Training on his own in Brazil.

All by his lonesome.

Fuck me, the perfect personification of the second half of this transfer market.
