The fact that Germany or Netherlands could meme themselves into a final is disappointing. Their side of the bracket is so poo.

GK: Meslier, Areola, Costil
Def: Ferland Mendy, Upamecano, Umtiti, Konate, Theo Hernandez, Dagba, Kurzawa
Mid: Fekir, Aouar, Veretout, Camavinga, Ndombele, Payet, Bakayoko
For: Ikone, Lacazette, Edouard, Moussa Dembele, Martial, Thauvin, Plea

That is a squad made of French players not selected in their 26 man squad for Euro 2020. And I am sure I missed many stars. Some of these players could get into any other squad in Euro 2020. France really screwed up. For the amount of talent they have, they should be winning Euro 2020 easily.

At this point I’m really hoping Italy win because I want to see if it will have a knock on effect on Serie A.

Particularly I’m hoping it changes the view of player development and the performances of Italian club teams in European competition.

I think Italian teams have had an inferiority complex in regards to player development over the last 15 years. Maybe if people start to realize the talent in the country can actually compete at the highest level again more Serie A clubs will give opportunities to talented local players instead of immediately going towards foreign players. I fear that’s the only way Italian clubs can realistically stay competitive long term because they simply can’t keep up with the spending from the richer teams in Europe

European competition is a bit trickier because its not like most of the big Italian teams even have a core of Italian players any more. However perhaps they can learn from the way this Italy plays expansive attacking football.

I think the thing with local talents is timing and scarcity. There is no time to wait for them and the fans are rutless and impatient, as well as the business environment the clubs operate in. And those talents might not be worth the wait and risk. There are countless examples.

Obviously, if you broaden your range and look for top players wherever you can find them it will help clubs reach the most immediate and important goals in the game today, titles and money.

No EPL club gives more than 4 players for the English NT. I think Dynamo Kiev gives 6, Bayern is probably close. Inter is at 2 or 3, Rube at 3 or 4, Roma 3 or 4. They are all close.

Italy needs to bring in reserve teams, and obviously a league where these teams can play. Now when Serie A mid-to-top level clubs have potential kids, they need to loan/sell kids (with buyback etc) to get minutes to these players. Football in Italy is so cynical, so tactical that opponents simply annihilate the kids when they are out there learning how to not get fucked over. That's just how it is. Tactical, team-oriented game makes it harder for young players to come in immediately and have an impact (for 90mins per match).

Only the best of the best, the most unique kids can do it. And it always requires luck, injures and shit so that coaches are forced to use these kids who has it. There surely might be more of them who could do it but it's just the thing in Italy to not trust them because the result is EVERYTHING. Always.

You can say how ridiculously biased Italian and Spanish media are in general, but geez, what a difference in class between them and the fucking English media...

Spaniards taking the loss like bosses.

Amazing that Cristiano somehow still wins top scorer despite being pretty anonymous the entire tournament.
