Winning this feels worthless to be honest. I don’t feel rewarded at all, it’s just showcase of what they think fast-football is. This is the ultimate result of globalised football, no connections with culture and funny enough history that they claim representing for.

What would be cool is keeping the domestic leagues to 18 rounds. Would make it way more existing or with a top 4 play off.

Doing a super league with 18 rounds. One week play domestic and the other week super league.
(Make a 2nd, 3rd leagues for the other teams to fight to get to the super league.

Scrap the league cups.

Add more teams to UCL with no 3rd place EL.
Add more EL teams.

Lol... Money has always been what's mattered. People are acting like these players are broke and playing for the spirit of the game.

LOL, but how much more do these owners need?
Reminds me of a quote by some intelligent wag: "You can judge the decline of society by the emphasis put on sport".
Many of the player's are well compensated for their efforts, and many don't play for the spirit of the game and that maybe part of the problem.

Might as well start calling football soccer then.

Interesting that Inter's logo appears with the proposed stadium project in the background as opposed to Milan with the San Siro.

Edit: Also in general, football has been about money for a long time. Improvements and development cost money. Economic prosperity is not only an end in and of itself, but also a necessary condition for the existence of things, in this case entertainment.

I think people are just very afraid of change in something as traditional as football, but only time will tell whether this is a project worth pursuing or not. I mostly am concerned about the national leagues becoming meaningless, which would be a shame as it would create some real stratification.

All I know is that the people that thought about this know how to count their money and they must be pretty certain about the profitability of this project.

Hahaha, I tend to post every 6 months or so, usually when I have something important to do and am procrastinating as I am tonight :D

But yeah, this felt like a pretty big deal.

This will be the biggest footballing club competition of all time. Heck, it might even compete with the World Cup.

It will be dead in the water if the national FAs, FIFA and UEFA threaten to bring out the big ban hammer and swing it at the clubs pursuing this.

I doubt that the clubs will be willing to pay the price of getting kicked out of their national competitions to be a part of this project. And players being banned from NT participation will be none too pleased.

I wonder if the clubs even tried polling the fans on this idea before deciding to go forward with it. I'm guessing that the directors are shitting bricks right now due to the backlash that they are receiving from the supporters.

this is seriously worse then calciopoli if everything get's confirmed. Specialy if were going to get banned... how does this even work? only a 1 year ban maybe? and the scudetto? or are we forever going to see Atalanta and Napoli leading Serie A while Inter gets to play only the super league?? this sounds fucking ridiciolous. but generelly, this whole thing is going to destroy football. i don't know what to say, it's just very sad....

People aren't "afraid of change" when it comes to this. This literally destroys football, and goes WAY beyond any economic properties this has for its clubs.

If people here can't see beyond the extra millions Inter will gain from this, and the absolute consequences it WILL have for European football then you should probably start looking at things differently. It's also worth nothing that any financial gains will only increase the difference between the English teams involved and the others.

I dont see those leagues banning esl teams though. EPL will lose their market without those teams and same goes to serie A.

Ps. I fucking hate the idea of ESL.

They won't be banned but there will be certain punishments for sure.

Maybe you're right. I just refrain from making bold predictions about this. Perhaps because I care less about it than some of the more dedicated fans. Maybe I shouldn't comment without "skin in the game".

sky - UEFA have announced that every club and player participating in The European Super League will be banned from all competitions at both European and International level - this includes playing for their country.

Penny for Benzema's thoughts? :troll:

Jurgen Klopp to Kicker in 2019:

"For me, the Champions League is the Super League, in which you do not always end up playing against the same teams... Why should we create a system where Liverpool faces Real Madrid for 10 straight years? Who wants to see that every year?"

I thought the official statement from uefa was that the clubs concerned will be banned from any domestic and European competitions? Seems like players might be denied playing for the national teams as well.

This is from uefa's website:
"As previously announced by FIFA and the six Confederations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams."

Eh come on. This sport has been shit for the last 10 years. It feels like it's all a promo for FIFA video games instead of the other way around.

The sport needed this to pique interest as well.

It is turning shit because big clubs grow bigger while small clubs remain small. No one is interested in this sport when the league winner is determined before the league starts. If the football authorities are really serious to respark the interest onto football, they should try to make more even playing field. Superleague is completely antithesis of it where big clubs try to bask in constant inflow of money without fear being replaced.

This Super League idea sounds shit to me. Either way, can all these please be officially decided at the end of this season. I have been waiting for this hopeful Scudetto since 2010!!!! Second wave of Covid fear did strike first and now this.

You're right, I just re-checked their official statement. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the week plays out then.

This is the reason why I think Bayern and PSG will join as well. Those competitions are pointless.
