That's actually how football market works.

You're from Bulgaria, so I'll give you an example of how it works over there.

There's an agent of a player with an expired contract and he knocks on the door of Ludogorets.
He asks for 150,000 a year. Ludogorets checks the player out and they probably don't like him. They don't want him for 100,000 either, they simply do not want him, so money doesn't matter there.
He then knocks on the door of CSKA Sofia and the other capital teams and is asking for 100,000. At the same time, he goes to Botev, Chernomore and Beroe and is asking for 80,000. Whomever bites gets the player. They do not want to send a player to CSKA Sofia with Beroe money, but the player could easily end up there.
If a better club that offers 100k wants him, obviously he'll end up there. But he's been thrown around for different values at different clubs simultaneously.

These are obviously fringe and obscure players, so while the money is the driver, what they're going for is showcasing their level for a future transfer. They only want the exposure. Eventually they'll transfer to Ludogorets. From there, maybe Dinamo Zagreb or some team in Belgium or Portugal.\\

So this is a core reason why football is shit these days around Europe and the world.


This is pretty much how football works on a grander scale. You are Ludogorets and want to buy a promising player from Denmark? You somehow managed to figure out that this is the next Michael Laudrup before anyone else and no one else is looking, so the asking price is $500,000. You are Inter and you want to buy that same player? Now for some reason you have alarmed the entire football world that this kid is worth looking at. The Danish club would not settle for less than $5,000,000. Same kid, same scouting knowledge about him from his own club, but the higher someone on the food chain comes knocking, the more you ask.

This is how we paid 20+ for Dalbert when the only genuine interest for him should have come from America Mineiro and Goias who wouldn't have spent more than 2m on him.

Have you followed that De Jong saga at Barcelona? Totally disgusting. Apparently Barca owes De Jong some serious money, deferred salaries from COVID years, like 18m or something. So now they want to push him out of the club because they would have to pay that money during the contract years the player has. Contract was btw extended for one year some time ago.

Basically Laporte tries to sneak De Jong out of the club and avoid paying those deferred salaries while at the same time he has signed Kessie, Christensen, Raphinha and soon Lewandowski. And De Jong probably wouldn't even want to move to United who can't even get to CL anymore consistently.

Only normal he has to either accept less or leave- reality of course is even sporting wise he is not ideally suited to be an heir to Busquets and nowhere near the interior his likely replacement in Bernardo is

Club was disastrously mismanaged and Laporta is course correcting by cleaning the deadwood and wage imbalance while building a competitive squad that can compete for every trophy. I love it
