Regardless of his inconsistency, his poor shot conversion rate, Fiorentina's dogshit season or how many goals & assists he got, I rate Chiesa to be leagues above the likes of Politano. You can just see it in how they play. When the chips are down, who here would prefer to bank on Politano to create a moment of magic instead of Chiesa? That's like subbing in Ranocchia as a forward in the 80th minute instead of Ibrahimovic.
Granted, relying on one player to pull a moment of magic out their ass is not a sustainable way of playing, see Mancini's Inter. It's something we should be avoiding as a team by building a solid playing system, and I'm trusting/hoping Conte will improve this. But let's be real here, every single club in the world has tough, stubborn games where they need a difference maker to provide that breakthrough with a spark of inspiration. Probably more than half of juve's games are like this where they play like dogshit but they have someone like Dybala or Ronaldo or even Costa, Cuadrado, Cancelo, Bernardeschi or Kean to make that difference. Compare the potency of those names with our team of track and field athletes. D'Ambrosio, Perisic, Politano, Vecino, Gagliardini, Candreva
Our squad is too full of passengers like Valero and Mario, and not enough difference makers. On a side note, this is one thing I really like about Keita, he's a difference maker, albeit a kind of shit one.
Don't get me wrong, any player can pull a goal out of their ass here and there, see Vecino. But there's levels to this shit. And the difference in potency between the likes juve's squad and ours, or Chiesa and any of our forwards, is embarrassing. This isn't even to support the signing of Chiesa but to say that I don't find him overrated at all. At 21 years old, he is the definition of an elite talent. IMO Chiesa is easily better than any other hyped Italian talent like Barella or Zaniolo etc, and better than the likes of Insigne and El Shaarawy for that matter too. If Barella is worth somewhere between €40-50m, (and that's a whole different debate) then Chiesa is definitely worth the €70m price tag I've seen reported.
