that he's at an age where he should be starting to look at going into his prime, rather than being still very development focused.

he'll be a useful rotation option for us but i dont think he's ever going to be a really strong first team starter on a regular basis imho.

people are speaking about him here like he's 21/22, whereas he's 24
Every player has their own development trajectory, every player is a unique human being with their own learning process. I can give you this is the age you need to take steps forward, GENERALLY, but it doesn't mean Dimarco can't be better than what he's now.

This is his first season at a big club like Inter. Might as well need some encouragement, learn the moves with the team better and I can totally see him being a better player later in his career. We've seen just few months of him at Inter, at top level club. You are IMO way too harsh with your analysis though I don't think has anyone even claimed him to be a really strong first team starter.

He just needs to get some more exp and learn the ropes of playing at a big club like Inter.

Dimarco has been starting (or at least rotating) in various Serie A minnows for a few years. This is his first season at a big club. He can definitely improve and develop into a regular starter, or at least contributor. He's never going to be an above average player due to his defensive limitations.

every player has their own trajectory, but ~90, 95% of players break through in a fairly well defined path, and its VERY rare to break through at 24-ish.

It's fine, a rotation level player for our first team is probably the best youth player we've produced in many years, esp considering (I think) he joined Inter aged 9.

From a skillset perspective, his left foot is appreciated, but he overall needs to be better.

Typically speaking yes, but there are exceptions to that rule, several in fact, from Luca Toni to Senna to our very own Materazzi. Good news is Dimarco has the tools to be above average (peak Biraghi), going by his work ethic alone. Given our luck with LBs, that's good enough. But lets give him a full season at least.

You ignored the best of all, Diego Milito. At 30yo his first big team and he was a monster.

The match should have started with Dimarco-Bastoni-Skriniar. Cos both Skriniar and DDA are too slow for Vinicius. So we might as well as a more "impactful" RCB from the first minute. Ultimately we got what we wanted in the back line. But fielding DDA instead of Dumfries caused a huge imbalance. Vinicius was able to exploit that and we lost control in the second half.

These types of statements are just pure speculations. I have seen many times how Dimarco's weak defending created havoc in our defense. Especially against actively pressing teams.

If we have started Dimarco, we could as well be even worse. No one knows at this point.

Renewed till 2026.
You always beat me to it by seconds!!!

Great news this is :) so chuffed. I am hoping this isn't an extension with view to loan out but an extension due to cementing squad status and a good 2nd to Perisic.

Around 2m according to Sky and Gazzetta.
We always give good contracts to our players.

D'Ambrosio earns around that and he's been a good soldier for this club for almost a decade. I don't quite get how Dimarco deserved 2m€ immediately. He's been good but not like great, and it's only half a season he's played for us. But, whatever. :D

It's the price for tying him down to such a long contract. He's going to be 29 in 2026 so he basically gives up any bargaining power in his prime years.
