Inter earned 8m euros from playing and winning two games in the Italian Super Cup. If you could play 7 games and earn around 20m euros from this then it really is not worth considering.

Any top clubs playing in this competition are at risk of sabotaging their league campaign for the following season because of how it completely takes away any kind of actual off-season rest for players + pre-season training. You begin a few weeks after the league season ends, you play for upwards to a month, and the tournament ends one month before the next league season begins? Madness. You better pay up real well because Barcelona gets a big advantage over Real Madrid for 2025-'26, Milan gets a huge advantage over us, so on and so forth.

It would hurt our revenue but I'd be thrilled if this whole thing falls apart. It would suck for the teams from the other federations who are losing out financially - even €20M is still very useful for many of them - but let the players get some actual time away from the sport. Quit running them into the ground.

Don't have one.
Madrid dismissed the rumors about them leaving world cup and ancelotti said his words were misinterpreted in an interview he gave about it.

I'm sure our mngmt had a collective sigh of relief

We still had reports how the reported participation revenue vs. expected revenue are much different than expected. I doubt we've heard the last about this. This seems like total PR to me.

Ancelotti never said that. He did have an interview, but those exact words were not said.

The 20m thing is taken out of context in that bad ancelotti interview/translation.

Each club gets over 50m€ just for participating. If you win the whole thing you would get around 150m€ total. The total price money in the tournament is 2,5B€.

Its definitely worth doing from a financial perspective.

Do you have some source for this 50m just for participating other than the rumors earlier in the year?

So apparently FIFA wanted 1bn for the TV rights and Apple's offer was 25% of that. Then FIFA went to the clubs to ask would you come even if the prize/participation money was lower than initially mentioned.

FIFA is a fucking joke, I hope this thing comes crashing down.

The offer of 25% should be a no-brainer to tell FIFA that the demand for the competition isn't there.

On the issue of the congested schedule i agree with what Rummenigge said.

Players aren't blameless for this situation. They keep pushing salaries higher and higher. Well that money doesn't come from thin air. Clubs need more revenues to pay those salaries. More revenues=more games.

Haha such a joke.

I could accept it if it was decided beforehand, but now it's just a farce.
