What does that have to do with the players playing for the club? also from the looks of it, you want to be a seperate country from spain am i correct?
Well, first off, I'm not Catalan so I'm not personally invested in what happens to Catalunya and Spain...One of the benefits of having been a Barca fan is getting insight into the culture and the politics of what happens to Catalans within Spain.
There is a segment of Catalan society that desires independence although unclear if it is indeed a majority...I think more than independence, perhaps, Catalans want autonomy and the right for their language/culture.
Franco may be gone but the old guard of how things were done within Spain remains a theme throughout all of Spain....Similar sentiments are expressed by other minorities within Spain, the Basque for example.
Even recently, going to the FIFA Club World Cup, not using a Spanish airline plane, the airline authorities didn't allow for the club to fly directly to Dubai from Barcelona - forcing them to endure a lengthy stopover in Turkey.
FC Barcelona is a symbol of pride for Catalans, not only within Spain but also for the region that many of the players are Catalan...Again, similar with the Basque region where Athletic Bilbao, for example, only fields Basque players yet has never been relegated
The upshot is that there exists two different set of rules/laws within Spain...Those if you are indigenous Spaniards, and one for the rest.
The more recent issue that has been a sore point is how Catalunya wants to have recognition for their NT for football...Everytime they arrange even a friendly, Madrid intervenes and politicizes it to the extent that the opponent will drop out...Even recently, Catalunya tried to get a friendly with Iran although they did benefit from both Maradona & Messi to get one with the Albicelestes.
