Pretty dramatic end to a dream year for the club...Some standout performances from several, but Pedrito! once again comes through and Messi caps off the dream finish

6 trophies in 2009...No club has ever done this, I suspect no club may ever repeat it

The Mexican referee really had a poor match, denied a first half pk and generally was nothing short of bizarre on many fouls and non calls.

Ibra was anonymous early but very nearly had a highlight goal off a fk in the 2nd half.

Estudiantes were worthy adversaries although they parked the proverbial bus for the majority of the match which probably didn't help them in the final result...Early on, it was very much a final feel with both sides causing problems for the other.

Emotional trophy presentation too

Actually, some clubs can even beat it ;) Just give some time for English giants :)

Insanity...

Pretty imba shit, I propose a rule that no club may have more than 2 La Mesia players in their line up

8 years ago, I've never thought that I would say this but..

Barca = football.

I wish Inter can someday be as good as them. But that will never happen as long as our football philosophy is still stuck in the 1960s.

I concur with Pep's comments yesterday...Dark times ahead for the club...I mean, how can they top what they've now accomplished?...It's all downhill from here

Congratz. Best football club on earth without shadow of doubt. I agree with Adnan, I wish Inter one day can be as good as them...

I wanted Estudiantes to win it but they had no energy levels to wether barca over 120 mins, i tip my hat to Mr. Veron who proved once again he is one of the best midfielders in the world in the last 10 years and i am happy he won the Libertadores and got 2nd place with his team, fantastic achievement.

For Barca congrats on another trophy but this was excepted given the team they have assembled in the last 4 years. I mean if you take a look at their team, they are complete in every department and they play with such determentation. If you take a look at Ibra yesterday for example, if he was Barca's main threat and best player i bet you they wouldnt have won, thats why we struggled with him, same thing with Henry at Arsenal, but when you there are 4 or 5 players who can make a differance and that have played in a certain system for a while, you can see how well they play, also i have been very impressed by Pique recently, one of Barca's best players no doubt.

Really made me feel good, too, to listen to Pep direct thanks to players like Samu, Hleb, Guddy, etc. that all contributed to the year and the historic sextuple...That they all have a hand even in yesterday's victory...Pep, class

Heh heh, sell 'em!...I wanna see Barca start over, field only Catalans through la Masia and then see how long before they can start winning some trophies :boogy:

That's the next step

I dont understand whats with the catalans thing you seem to be doing recently, you are not considered spain anymore? You already have more than 5 players in the starting line up who are considered Catalan, you dont want to be part of Spain anymore? Why is this being brought up recently all of a sudden?

Heh heh, it's not a recent thing...The history of the club is rooted in it being a Catalan thing...It might be getting played up more by the media etc. now but it's not a recent phenomena

Part of the 'recent' hype on it stems from two factors...One, the club is in the midst of a golden age...Two, with the global economic downturn, Catalunya remains one of the more viable economies within Spain...This despite laws etc. that put the Catalan state at a disadvantage within Spain.

I envision Catalunya being a bit like Ireland or Scotland within the UK, except Catalunya actually have a different language

Well, first off, I'm not Catalan so I'm not personally invested in what happens to Catalunya and Spain...One of the benefits of having been a Barca fan is getting insight into the culture and the politics of what happens to Catalans within Spain.

There is a segment of Catalan society that desires independence although unclear if it is indeed a majority...I think more than independence, perhaps, Catalans want autonomy and the right for their language/culture.

Franco may be gone but the old guard of how things were done within Spain remains a theme throughout all of Spain....Similar sentiments are expressed by other minorities within Spain, the Basque for example.

Even recently, going to the FIFA Club World Cup, not using a Spanish airline plane, the airline authorities didn't allow for the club to fly directly to Dubai from Barcelona - forcing them to endure a lengthy stopover in Turkey.

FC Barcelona is a symbol of pride for Catalans, not only within Spain but also for the region that many of the players are Catalan...Again, similar with the Basque region where Athletic Bilbao, for example, only fields Basque players yet has never been relegated

The upshot is that there exists two different set of rules/laws within Spain...Those if you are indigenous Spaniards, and one for the rest.

The more recent issue that has been a sore point is how Catalunya wants to have recognition for their NT for football...Everytime they arrange even a friendly, Madrid intervenes and politicizes it to the extent that the opponent will drop out...Even recently, Catalunya tried to get a friendly with Iran although they did benefit from both Maradona & Messi to get one with the Albicelestes.
