It seems we will try to sign a forward on deadline day. After Genoa rejecting our approach for Pandev, our main target is Slimani. But the deal is a bit complicated. Monaco want 2.5m to let him go, the player prefers joining an EPL team where there's interest from Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea but Leicester aren't willing to let him join an EPL rival. The fact that Pastorello is his agent is a plus for us.

There are also rumours we could be back for Ground but now Chelsea refuse to sell him unless they find a replacement.

Now it seems it was all along that Chelsea wasn't willing to sell him before they get a replacement. If they can get that today, we can maybe buy Giroud? Hard to interpret these rumors. Maybe it was that we turned to other options in the fear of Chelsea not selling at all and Pastorello offers us Slimani. Then Chelsea turns to Lazio and Tottenham in fear of us not buying Giroud if they can find replacement and we've found a new striker by then.

Maybe one shouldn't find as eagerly the reasons for market moves as the reporters do.

I would say in 2018. When we were trying to sign Pastore but Suning decided to block everything which led to Brozovic staying instead of joining Sevilla on loan. Best decision they ever made.
