While I'm not suggesting we should be in any hurry to sell Hakan, I think it's important you are one step ahead of a player in anticipating when his career is taking a downturn and don't hesitate to sell him if there's an offer that represents a really good deal. It's not important with players like Darmian, Miki and Acerbi who cost little and would never be sold for anything, but if there's a market for Hakan then it's worth bearing in mind so as to avoid another Skriniar situation.

I think everyone at Inter realized if you really want to go all in UCL, you need Hakan. As tasty as the offer seemed, selling as important starting player as Hakan you can forget about any trophy in Europe.

We proceeded to concede only 1x 90th minute goal in league phase which means they are taking it seriously and they are really mentally chasing it.

The best would be extend Hakan 2-3 years more but with a significant salary cut. He will be 32-35 by then.

If you would have told me five plus years ago we’d be unable to sign any of those three names because of arnautovic I would have probably been institutionalized. Now I’ll just be really mad on a sports forum.

I don't think we can say that one player makes the difference between a competitive CL bid and a disappointing one, I mean just look at what PSG and Man City have thrown at building teams capable of being ultra-competitive and look at the disappointing returns. Inter have been in as many Finals as the French despite being a net seller.

Inter as a club have and it seems will continue to have for the foreseeable future a policy which requires spending on the squad to be mostly financed by incomings, so if they can extract a well-above market value price for a player (as they did Lukaku and Onana) then I imagine they'll jump all over it. If there was a record of re-investing money badly then that might be a different matter, but mostly that's not been the case.
