Without Spinazzola, Italy need to change their playbook. But while Mancini has tactically reinvented himself, he is unlikely to made a big tactical change in the final. Italy will line up exactly how they have been doing in the last 2 years, Euro 2020 was supposed to be a dress rehearsal for this young team to get ready for the next World Cup.

But without an attacking FB, the current formation does not work - playing the likes of Emerson or Toloi in the final may be a disaster like it was in the semis. Ideally I would change to a more Conte style formation now:

Insigne - Immobile
Chiesa - Verratti - Jorginho - Barella - Berardi
Bastoni - Chiellini - Bonucci/Di Lorenzo
Donnarumma

I can see that working well. It solves the issue of attacking with width without Spinazzola, while still keeping defensive solidity. But like I said, its too brave or even foolish to change to a new formation in the final for the first time. Will never happen. I can see the same line up as what started against Spain, unless Florenzi is fit.

I honestly thought the team was fine with Emerson at LB. He was having a pretty good game. The real issue against Spain was Olmo as a false nine; he kept dropping deep, helping Spain retain possession while dragging Chiellini out of position. Kane is going to play 90 minutes for England, so Italy will be able to keep the ball more.

Things really hit the fan when Mancini decided to put Di Lorenzo at LB. It was a horrible decision and almost cost us the game.

If we lose to England it would be my most embarrassing moment as a football fan. Something I could never get over.

Well the way to win for Italy is to pay UEFA and the refs a decent amount of money similar to what the English FA supposedly has. Italy has no chance otherwise. UEFA has nothing to do with football.

italy beat every team pretty decisively …. England dived and the refs wouldn’t go to VAR. I mean you can yell Fake news all you want. Doesn’t change the fact Denmark got screwed and Italy beat 2 out the best teams in Europe to be in the final.

I am Danish, so yeah I know how we got robbed yesterday by the Dutch ref.

My point is that Italy might be screwed as well. It will not surprise me.

They did the same thing in 1966 (vs Argentina in the QFs and vs Portugal in the SFs), cheated in the final as well, managed to send Brazil home early by blatantly letting them die on the pitch vs Hungary (English ref), screwed Italy with the North Koreans (was a French ref) and they're still celebrating as if it's some great success, and treat the 1934 and 1978 World Cups as the plague when their sole victory was far worse than a mere police state environment.

The only way it can come home is by going full English about it. No need for me to go any further, nor a reply on this remark necessary, just visit the British Museum... and see their responses on whether or not they cheated the Danes last night...

A bit bored, here are my nominations for the team of the tournament so far:

CF: Kane, Schick, Lukaku
LM: Sterling, Insigne, Damsgaard, Ronaldo, Forsberg
RM: Chiesa, Yarmolenko, Sarabia
AM: Pedri, De Bruyne, Zuber
Mids (2): Jorginho, Hojbjerg, Pogba, Kroos, Xhaka, Phillips, Busquets, Wijnaldum
LB: Spinazzola, Shaw, Maehle, Gosens
RB: Walker, Dumfries, Meunier
CBs (2): Chiellini, Kjaer, Stones, Laporte, Maguire, Bonucci
GK: Sommer, Donnarumma, Schmeichel

I would probably select the following as the team, obviously influenced heavily by the 2 finalists:

Kane
Sterling - Pedri - Chiesa
Jorginho - Hojbjerg
Spinazzola - Chiellini - Kjaer - Walker
Sommer

I would say one of the strikers should go in place of the guy from Denmark, I liked his contribution

It’s a final. Don’t change a winning formula.

England’s biggest threat will be on the wings against our fullbacks (the weakest aspect of the team right now). Italy has to make sure not to leave themselves exposed, but even in defensive situations I worry about one of the fullbacks leaving their leg in on a dribble.

still, Italy should be able to take the midfield and dictate tempo, just hope the attack is up to snuff against their backline. I’m mostly concerned about Immobile, but he has to start.

It’s complete bullshit that England have played 6/7 games at Wembley. They’ve had a much easier path to the final and now we have to listen to their fans talk about breaking the semi-final duck in the most casual way possible.

I’ll be grinning hard if Italy beat them in a final in front of their fans in their home stadium.

Same VAR team as in England-Denmark. You know , the same dutch piece of shits who told Makkelie " everything's correct, go ahead with the pen"

Its like Serie A with Moggi and his puppet refs.

I'd have Pogba in the team for sure. For manager, I'd pick Enrique, with Mancini and Hjulmand behind him. It was pretty even between the managers until the semifinals. I thought Mancini's starting plan was pretty ineffective, with Spain being the much more dominant team (although Mancini fixed things by switching to Spain's formation, to his credit), and Hjulmand subbing Damsgaard off made Denmark pretty blunt.

No way you can have Pogba in the team after that giveaway and the way France went out. Just more deserving players.

He dominated that game, as he did most of France's games, and scored that game anyway. Once incident doesn't invalidate the fact that he's been one of the best midfielders of the tournament.
