Most of the drivers apart from the top 4 or 5 got lapped and that finish for Vettel was actually a good result for Ferrari.

Mercedes' car this year is unreal and probably the best they've ever had. Racing Point surprisingly with their engine and Red Bull are the next best, with Ferrari and McLaren slightly behind them.

Yes, 6th can be considered a good result for a mid-table team.

i haven't seen anything like this since barcelona 2001, when hakkinen was comfortably leading and had an engine failure in the last lap, thus leaving the win to schumi.

it's incredible how badly mercedes mismanaged the tires. props to hamilton for managing the situation the best he could and win the race, but one more curve and verstappen would have overtaken him.

great race, but nowadays f1 is only exciting when shit happens to someone, like today.

Honda is leaving end of 2021. Big loss for F1. Sad, the whole deal with Red Bull was working out. I get it though.

Hope RB doesn't dip out either

Only Lauda's crash comes to mind. I have never seen an F1 car split in half during accident. Utterly shocking.

I personally thought Renault had the better car back then in 05 & 06, even Fisichella who imo was an average driver managed to compete and finish top 4th. Maybe that's because I was a Schumacher fan and that was my excuse :p

Fisichella dominated all his teammates prior to Alonso. Including Button and and Massa. Fisi clearly didn't handle the pressure that well at a big team, but he was never "average". Furthermore, that Renault was basically designed to fit Alonso's driving style.

What the Renault did have in those seasons was fantastic launch control which certainly helped their cause.

Lewis Hamilton tests positive for Covid-19. Is this the first case?

Enjoyed the last few laps between Verstappen and Hamilton. Hopefully there is some semblance of competition this year but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Same. It looks promising but i would like to wait till Canada before getting excited for this season. Bahrain usually suits Honda.

Question, from a completely oblivious non-F1 fan but I'm just curious.

Is Lewis Hamilton really that good? It seems inevitable that he's gonna break all sorts of records. Is he really better than Schumacher, Senna, etc etc? Or is his car just too damn good or there aren't many competition? Oh and whatever the fuck happened to Vettel? I thought he was supposed to be The Chosen One or something but I haven't heard his name lately.

He's good but not as great as his track record shows. I find this to be the case for a hell lot of sports actually. We live in times of crap celebrities
and fame over nothing, so people who are actually getting credit on genuine merit are getting mad love at the expense of past generations.

He has a vastly superior car, the rules have been shitty, I'm not going to comment on the driving class in general but I could point a few drivers during his time that are better, just didn't have a good enough car.

There seems to be a greater disparity in car quality these days. I think they're about to change all that within the next 1-2 seasons.

He's definitely a great driver but he'd not be making a dynasty if he drove something else.

And yes, Vettel is a superior driver. Ferrari happened to him.

Vettel definitely isn't superior. He was lucky enough to drive Newey spaceships and battling a teammate, Webber, who was nothing special. When the car is fast he will do the job. But if he has to fight with other drivers he struggles. It's not a coincidence he has no wins when he was starting lower than third. Despite their failures in the last decade, Ferrari gave a top car to Vettel in 2018 but he bottled it. His Ferrari stint have just shown Vettel weaknesses.

As for Hamilton, he's a top driver and the best of his era but most of his titles have come with a far superior car than the competition so you don't really know if it's the driver or the car. If Red Bull have the best car this season, as it seems, Hamilton will have the best chance to prove his critics wrong.

As for the comparisons with past drivers, i always hated them. You can't compare drivers of different eras. But if i had to place Hamilton among the best, Fangio, Senna and Schumacher are above Hamilton.
