The problem of him staying is that he can pick up an injury to take him out for a really long time.

Dude looks like a 50 year old uncle the next day after a Friday night drinking session and still pockets 20 year olds like nothing. He needs to be studied.
hahahaha.
Im guessing there is a strong mentality and high IQ factor.

And sadly the same goes for De Vrij. We'll have to choose wisely.

We've also seen with Bremer that a younger CB could be out for a longer time than a few months. Injuries can happen to anybody.

We already have Bisseck and Bastoni that can step in middle of defence if needed, so what I hope for is we get a really good CB to our starting CB for the next 5-8 years, while Acerbi becomes a coach for CBs, De Vrij stays for one more year as a bench option for the new CB and Palacios comes back and is taught by Acerbi and Bastoni for both CB and LCB positions.

Yes, but the chance to happen is higher, and usually the recovery time is longer.
In my view we need a younger CB, and one if Acerbi or De Vrij to leave.
I won't mind if we extend for 1.year on lower salary, and get 1 more CB. They we'll be covered with 3 guys, which is perfect. But only Acerbi and SDV for the next season is too risky for me

There's also Palacios who should be able to be a CCB, although he seems happier as LCB

Why not Bissek?

Pavard/Darmian - Bissek/Acerbi OR SDV - Bastoni/Carlos

Focus on the damn 3th striker.

It was already risky this past summer. We've been saying it over and over again. I truly believe we were searching for a player but didn't really commit since we were not in a particularly spendy mood or we thought we could find something better this summer.

As far Bisseck goes, I'd rather have him as our next Darmian than just make him out starting CB. Give me somebody who will be Acerbi's heir while also developing Palacios and I'm good with that. Pavard RCB, Bastoni LCB, players like Bisseck and Augusto will feature a lot too in different roles. That's more than okay for me.

This guy is still worldclass when he’s fully fit. He’s the type of defender you won’t see a lot anymore nowdays. Difficult to part ways with him as there aren’t a lot cb’s better than him imo.

Acerbi Acerbi Acerbi

what a player. That dummy yesterday was crazy. He’s supposed to be old as dirt but like Mikhi never shows it. They both keep up with our transition game so well and are a big part of the reason others are able to do what they do.

Obviously we can’t keep him forever but we should absolutely not just look to replace him for replacement sake. It will be hard to find a defender that understands the way we play and how we move with and without the ball as well as he does.

it’s the main reason why de vrij sits on the bench as much as he does when acerbi is fit.

I can't fault Acerbi for anything, since he playing with Bisseck and Carlos. It's just not a good combination of players, but I felt he still played good enough, just his colleagues didn't.

So we found finally a striker that Acerbi can't mark

Kane was moving all over the field and creating lots of problems
Potentially the 1st time i saw Acerbi struggle mark someone

He was still good enough with overall leadership and space coverage but for sure kane was not one to man-mark. Maybe De Vrij can be more mobile

I disagree, he had to watch over Kane but without moving too much outside his central zone. Kane is the kind of roaming forward that drops back a lot and does a lot of link up play. You cannot man mark him the whole 90 minutes especially with 3 defenders since you will create a massive gap down the middle. The only time Kane really got away was when he hit the post.

That is what i meant

Since Acerbi's main skill is man marking and Kane is not someone to man mark shouldn't we maybe think of having De Vrij on the return match

Huh? When did Acerbi abused Kessie and Bakayoko racially?
