I swear to god, we can't fuck up his next move. I don't want another Stankovic/Oristanio/Esposito type of deal where the option is way too low (well, maybe it wasn't for Oristanio).

I would actually accept only a pure loan. I feel this kid is a real deal and the loaning club will use him anyway, just like it was with Carboni.

100%. I would be surprised if we loaned him without a counter-option (at least) next year, but theres the possibility of a makeweight in a transfer. I'd be disappointed about that, top goalscorer of Serie B I dont think we've ever had a young player in that position before.... real potential

This guy is one development loan away from having a spot in Inter squad at 21. They better not fuck it up or make him a counterpart to faciliate another deal. He is probably our most promising academy forward since Balotelli.

You can realize how immense his potential is when there are "Welcome to Man Utd" videos on youtube for a Serie B player.

Here's a bold statement

If he has a strong goalscoring finish to the season, I would keep him at Inter for 6 months. Taremi is a thuramish backup in terms of support striker, he's never gonna be a good goalscorer. I don't mind giving Esposito our goalscorer backup, if he impresses in training etc. and if it isn't working by winter, get him out on loan. But right now we'd do anything to have him here in this current team tbh.

He would be best to just stay in serie B if ManU is the option nowdays.
On a serious note he will most likely go on another loan or move straight to the first team if both Arna and Correa leave. I wouldnt want to see him as a bench option tho.

So far yes

Turns out dropping someone straight into the A team aged 17 gives them an ego ;)

Good boy. Keep it up. If you continue like this I'm gonna be so hopeful of seeing him in Inter colours

Another goal in a crazy match against Palermo. Spezia were losing 2-0 till 90' and then they scored 2 goals in injury time

Right now id happily take him back for next season given the number of games we will have. He'd do well as the goalscorer backup, with Taremi basically being a pandev who scores even less. Given the games he should be able to get reasonable minutes imho
Hell, right now id get rid of Taremi and have both espositos

We need five forwards. We essentially have 2 + Taremi who'll be useful for minor games but hasn't shown much in intense games.

So we can take this kid upstairs, but we'll still need a... Julio Cruz kind of impact from whomever will be forward #3.

The irony is that we had a chance to take Retegui who's proving to be exactly that, but good luck now, he'd cost over 50m

That's the thing. If he's gonna be behind Taremi and another striker in the pecking order there's no point having him here next season.

Retegui is just another Gasperini system player. I feel sorry for the club that chooses to spend big on him because of this season.

Outside Gasperini system, both at Genoa and Italy, he didn't look anything special.

I feel poor for every kid that performs well for Atalanta being labeled as "Gasperini system", no matter how hard he tries. One year of adaptation & some matches in the weakest Italy attack with zero supporting talents, but now even Capocannoniere can't convince people that at least one is very good?

Maybe not world beater level. But if Retegui repeats his stats next year, he might hit Luca Toni, Immobile, Di Natale, Quagliarela ceiling, i.e. far from "nothing special".

Remind you that, as great as we hype, "Inter system" strikers have always dreamt of that honor alone. Must roll back to 15 years ago to pick Ibrahimovic.

I am sorry for feeling sceptical when almost every Atalanta player flops when he leaves the system.

I need to see him perform for Italy at a similar level to be convinced.
